My only question is why she sits at the desk backwards.

[–] logicbomb@lemmy.world 46 points 2 months ago (4 children)

Why did Jesus and all of his disciples sit on the same side of the table at the last supper?

[–] wieson@feddit.org 15 points 2 months ago (1 children)

If you want a real answer: it's painted on a wall in a monastery dining room. So all the monks would basically eat at the same banquet as jesus every day.

[–] logicbomb@lemmy.world 15 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Okay, but how did Jesus know where it would be painted when he was making the seating chart?

[–] kyonshi@dice.camp 15 points 2 months ago (1 children)

@logicbomb @wieson he didn't. Everyone just randomly picked a side, and all picked that side.

Like a coin landing heads up 14 times.
A miracle.

[–] logicbomb@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago

It's even worse than that because a table has four sides. So, it's like a four-sided coin getting heads 14 times.

[–] Buddahriffic@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

Truth is there were people sitting on all sides of the table but DaVinci didn't think people would like a painting mostly of the back of their chairs and heads and invented a device to hide them so he could paint the rest as if they weren't there. And because of that, people thought there were only 12 disciples, but there were actually 13, plus about 7 fringe group members that weren't that into Jesus but liked his fan club so would come to hang with them.

The artist cut the table in half and turned it in post. It's actually a panorama.

Another good question!

[–] mech@feddit.org 4 points 2 months ago

Cause it's pretty difficult to paint a selfie.

She works at the other side and does her crafting at the other. This enables her to maintain good work/life balance.

[–] GreenKnight23@lemmy.world 7 points 2 months ago

perhaps it's a flaw from an imperfectly created comic.

or maybe its AI.

[–] Maxxie@piefed.blahaj.zone 19 points 2 months ago

I've been thinking about how dope this whole ai assistant could've been if big tech ghouls weren't force feeding it to us.

Imagine alternative timeline where nerds coding chatty AI in their spare time. Yeah its junky and sounds like a kawaii version of Microsoft Sam, but check how many anime facts it knows, how it can hotseat dwarf fortress while gleefully narrating goblin executions, and how you duct taped a camera to a cat toy and Whiskers was going absolutely berserk on it.

We could've had that.

Is AI the reason I’ve seen so many witch/bird comics? Who started the trend? Or has it all been this singular artist?

[–] Redacted@lemmy.zip 49 points 2 months ago

There are several other comics about this woman and her AI bird yes

[–] Tattorack@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

As far as I know, they all come from the same creator.

[–] Gullible@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 months ago

Read a dozen of their other comics, now, and they’re all quite cute!

Is it me, or does David Revoy really need to find other software?

Edit: I meant because he keeps complaining about AI, but apparently he uses Krita

[–] nagaram@startrek.website 26 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Genuinely, as neither a digital artist or hardcore Linux guy, why?

It looks good.

[–] maltasoron@sopuli.xyz 12 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (2 children)

Yeah, it does :) But his comics keep complaining about some AI assistent :P

[–] Tattorack@lemmy.world 10 points 2 months ago

It's complaining about the general trend of AI.

Thos artist uses Krita. I use Krita. Krita doesn't have AI or any sort of service like Adobe.

But the artist has strong opinions about AI, and it's rather unavoidable. They also made a comic about Firefox, as Mozilla is diving headfirst into this AI crap.

[–] nagaram@startrek.website 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I had seen someone complaining about Krita the other day and had assumed you meant that too!

Deeply sorry for misunderstanding you. I was mostly hoping this wasn't another bigot maintained software or something

[–] maltasoron@sopuli.xyz 2 points 2 months ago

No worries :)

[–] gnuplusmatt@reddthat.com 14 points 2 months ago

David is the patron saint of Krita tho

[–] QuandaleDingle@lemmy.world 10 points 2 months ago

What Krita needs is a massive money dump and a developmental overhaul for modernization. It's good software though. 👍🏾

[–] Tattorack@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Why would you think that? What is missing from this comic that would be improved by switching software?

[–] maltasoron@sopuli.xyz 4 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

It wasn't meant as a dig on his comics; they do look really nice.

I just thought his software was bothering him with AI, but people explained he uses Krita :)
