The last time they tried this, it was a premium service that delivered goods even quicker for extra cost and it was a massive failure because it turns out no one wants to pay extra for day quicker delivery.
Ultimately, amazon wants to not pay delivery people to increase profits (the cost to you will be the same/higher)
