Minneapolis police are probably jealous of ICE
It seems the police chief is on the mayors side if you watch the Q&A.
I don't think he has that power over the police. I'm starting to wonder if any police force has a power than can give them somehow enforceable orders.
Then he needs to hire people who will follow those orders.
I don't know for sure in Minneapolis, but in most places the Mayor and Council don't actually have the authority to directly hire and fire officers. Most cities the politicians only appoint judges and a city manager/administrator.
It would be like a President trying to fire a specific employee of an agency. FBI agent John Smith can't be fired by the President. That's why executive appointments matter so much. Patel isn't qualified to run the FBI, but he'll fire who the President wants gone, which is the only qualification Trump cared about.
Arrest the fucking murderer. Letting him leave is not the answer

The fact the FBI is involved gives me just as little hope.
Was kinda a reaching joke. The idea is that most of the police and ice are in cahoots. Any attempt at justice would be subverted by the systems in play. The only justice any of these people will recieve will be mob rule.
I watched the first half and it's worth watching. I hope he runs for some higher offices.

Because if the shooter leaves than the police won't be able to arrest him. Getting the shooter the fuck out of the state is probably the federal government's top priority.
Hopefully they can find him before he escapes, but he is likely already out of there at this point.
Okay, but whether Minneapolis arrests him or he escapes, they should still kick the rest of those goons out.

Pretty much agree with all of what the mayor said except for what boils down to "let's not give them what they want and let's fight hate with love and hugs instead."
