The Antillean nation declared two days of mourning, from 06:00 local time on January 5 to 12:00 this January 6, 2026, as a tribute to those who “did their duty with dignity and fell, after stiff resistance, in direct combat against the attackers or as a result of bombardments on the premises”.

The Embassy of Cuba in Ecuador has received messages of solidarity and condolences from friends and organizations in this Andean nation, such as the Communist Party of Ecuador, which repudiated Washington’s attack on Venezuela and joined the national sorrow of the Cuban people.

“We raise our flags and say goodbye soon to our brave 32 fighters, whose honor and loyalty mark the way forward of our peoples and their militias,” said the text.
