Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

They made us recite "freedom and justice for all" every single day but look at what we got. Freedom for rich and justice for none

We're going to go back to the era of child support or jail for the men again.

The jail is going to be especially lucrative now that the private sector is running prisons. Can you say "slave labor"?

SO many men that are all gung-ho on "punishing" women for having sex and getting pregnant always seem to fail to realize that in the conservative, paternalistic society they want to live in, they're gonna be leaned on the hardest for child support.

Esp. if they're poor.. and white.. won't make a difference.

Now that Trump and Co. have started the process of dismantling social support, that axe is gonna land hard.

Unlike how it was when I was a kid, we got computers and digital tracking now, so none of these tomcats are gonna be able to skip out and deadbeat it like they used to do in the 70's.

I do not see this ending for the men at all like they think. The women wont love them and will just take the money and kick them to the curb.

Hell hath NO fury...

Their whole M.O. is voting for policy that makes things worse and then blaming the party that has no power for their problems. They haven't "thought through" how it's gonna end in the first place; as long as they can pretend to be correct right now, their egos will never let them change their minds.

I hate to break it to you, but the people who are the most strenuously pro-life are Christian bible thumpers who believe people shouldn’t even be having sex before marriage, and even afterwards solely for the purposes of having children. So, if you have a baby you weren’t trying to have, you’ve sinned in their eyes. For a father to abandon his paternalistic responsibility to their child is another sin, so I don’t think they’d really care if the law forced him to at least pay child support.

Believe me, I’ve had this conversation with members of my family who are like this and it doesn’t trap them in the set of consequences you think it does. They’re perfectly fine with them.

Did you intentionally say pro-choice? Because that all sounds pro-life without specifically mentioning abortion

I did mean pro-life! Thanks for catching that. Comment edited.

While I certainly agree with your account of their words, those people are notorious for making excuses about their own situation. People outside the clique? Their fault and they deserve it. Inside the clique? Just a mistake, fell in with the wrong people, followed the wrong path, was tricked by Satan, etc. Just go to church on an off day, say you're sorry, and spam God with a dozen prayers.

I'm morbidly curious if priests will [selectively] report abortions. They obviously stand on their pulpit claiming one thing about sinning, but they also have to uphold the Christian ability to repent for any sin at any time. Admitting some sins are unforgivable would literally be worse than death, as that'd mean being irreversible condemned to an eternity in hell. Can't be having that, right? That'd lose followers! I guess there's loopholes about not being responsible for life on Earth. But this is the root of their defense about not reporting CSAM to legal authorities.

I've the same.. Yeah, they don't give a shit as long as the woman is "punished" for having sex. Now the incel/cuck guys dreaming they're gonna get their dicks wet w/o consequence are another thing, because it is VERY easy to flip the conservative script back onto men with all the paternalistic Quiverful and OathKeepers bullshit, expecting men to be responsible for the "issue" of their loins.

The country takes that step and the mechanisms for child support get computerized and centralized to the federal level (when children become property of the state for white nationalistic reasons - Lebensborn Redux anyone?) and these guys are in for the rudest of awakenings.

The NY Post is absolute fucking trash published and read by the sort of subhuman scum that revels in this news, read about it in a better publication - https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/jan/02/kentucky-woman-arrest-abortion

It is often healthcare workers who tip off the police in cases in which people are criminalized for pregnancy outcomes: out of 412 such cases uncovered by Pregnancy Justice, 264 involved information that had been disclosed in a medical setting.

Fucking awesome. Hey, you know how you should always be honest with your doctors so they can better help you? Well just also know if you say anything that might be construed as illegal, they can and will call the police on you. Fucking pathetic. I fucking hate it here. What kind of loser piece of shit narcs on their fucking patient.

HIPAA is the worst sort of law: it prevents good outcomes, like publicing known spreaders during a pandemic outbreak, yet fails to prevent bad outcomes like "you don't need to lie to your doctor."

[–] zbyte64@awful.systems 3 points 1 month ago

Also fun: calling in and you are told your healthcare was canceled, you ask why only to be told that is confidential. Good times.

The homicide offense makes her eligible for the death penalty. She also faces life behind bars if convicted.
