The best part is the next stage of the pattern where the opposition party gets elected and fails to change the ability for a president to launch regime change wars unilaterally. Or make it so ordinary folks have a decent life.

And then we just repeat it every decade or so.

"opposition" party

And "Thanks Obama" 2026

[–] ChicoSuave@lemmy.world 53 points 1 week ago (23 children)

It's the Republican presidential playbook.

The only difference now is that the president is also a pedophile

[–] RidderSport@feddit.org 19 points 1 week ago

Well is that a difference though? From what I see, the only difference is that a known pedophile can keep being president

[–] wizardbeard@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 1 week ago

known pedophile

Or are we going to conveniently ignore that the rumor that Trump sucked Bill's hog means that Bill was running in those circles too? The reason there's barely any movement on releasing the files is because it implicates fucking everyone in that socio-economic strata.

Trump's openly horrid. That doesn't mean the previous chucklefucks were spotless.

No wars until the average American isn't struggling with basic needs like food, education, healthcare and a roof over their heads. You know, things every other normal country provides to their citizens.

Can we still have class war, though?

[–] TaterTot@piefed.social 15 points 1 week ago

We have class war at home

America First doesn't include running other countries.

[–] auraithx@lemmy.dbzer0.com 13 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It does they just envision a much larger America.

Cuba and Nicaragua next before the mid-terms.

[–] Candice_the_elephant@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Greenland just after, and Canada in late 2027.

[–] theneverfox@pawb.social 2 points 1 week ago

And in 2027 AI apparently escapes contentment, and the US government is destroyed in 2029. At least that's what the YouTube thumbnails have been saying

[–] Mulligrubs@lemmy.world 29 points 1 week ago (1 children)

That's why only congress can declare war!

So, they work around that by saying these wars are not wars, so now that this has been established, the president can do as they wish and nobody can stop them (as only congress restrains the President)

[–] Asfalttikyntaja@sopuli.xyz 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Just a special military operation?

[–] Mulligrubs@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

They'll name it ironically, like "operation southern shield".

[–] MonkeyDumpster@lemmy.org 15 points 1 week ago (1 children)

[–] IchNichtenLichten@lemmy.wtf 2 points 1 week ago

Why does his profile picture look like a sims 1 character??

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 13 points 1 week ago (2 children)

The same reason his platform was "whatever the companies wanted it to be"

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 week ago

Yeah, I had high hopes from him and he sold out almost immediately.

[–] fossilesque@mander.xyz 3 points 1 week ago

Friendly reminder:

[–] criticon@lemmy.ca 11 points 1 week ago

My brother used AI to create "professional portraits" and they looked like this.

I mocked him and flooded his inbox with local portrait photographers until he changed his profile pic

Assuming that he was doing this in order to boost his popularity due to war, how does he fuck this up and get bullied over the Epstein files for another year? Because he’s GOING to fuck this up.

[–] justaman123@lemmy.world 18 points 1 week ago

Usually there's a lot more build up for this kind of thing to get the public on their side, but they figured they could use the Trump magic to just shove it in dry. I don't think it's gonna fly. Share all the Epstein files!

[–] unexposedhazard@discuss.tchncs.de 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Just like Israel and Iran. I would say the same for Russia, but Putin was pretty popular before the war iirc.

[–] real_squids@sopuli.xyz 5 points 1 week ago

Thanks to his sugar delivery service.

[–] A_norny_mousse@feddit.org 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It's a very obvious pattern for that reason, and others.

Pete Buttigieg is a liberal. He's only saying this to save face.

Listen to people like Graham Platner instead.

He had the chance to sound the alarm about Biden's mental health early on and didn't take it. He's part of the reason Trump is currently president.
