I think this implies he intentionally did it. Like a sort of temporal suicide... Which, IIRC, was not the plot for back to the future
The worst part is that, assuming your mom loved your dad and it wasnt a nefarious conception, your mom would probably totally fancy you like in the film.

If time travel were a thing I would happily go back and prevent myself from being conceived. I'm not suicidal and don't want to die, but given the choice, I'd rather not exist than have to work for most of my life.
Start being a flashmob of more than one and you have an opportunity to change that.

It would be trivially easy to do this, too. If you delayed them even a second, a different sperm would probably fertilize the egg.
