Literally the plot of Back To The Future

[–] tyler@programming.dev 38 points 1 week ago

Only if the lady started to fall in love with the time traveler. Otherwise a very very different story.

I think this implies he intentionally did it. Like a sort of temporal suicide... Which, IIRC, was not the plot for back to the future

The worst part is that, assuming your mom loved your dad and it wasnt a nefarious conception, your mom would probably totally fancy you like in the film.

Horrific but feasible

I dunno. I look almost exactly like my mother's father, so that would make things even weirder.

I did do the Nasty in the Pasty

He was about to become his own father.

I mean, that’s certainly one way to end your existence

If time travel were a thing I would happily go back and prevent myself from being conceived. I'm not suicidal and don't want to die, but given the choice, I'd rather not exist than have to work for most of my life.

Start being a flashmob of more than one and you have an opportunity to change that.

In the future, please resist the urge to give people advice they didn't ask for. Thank you.

I like how they are just watching him fade like "it's probably for the best"

[–] bandwidthcrisis@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

Sorry, this doesn't usually happen. It's not you, it's the causality violation."

Strange choice to make the time traveler a young child and eager to talk about their parents having sex.

Should have been a middle-aged haggardly man whose life has been miserable, making it clear why he'd want to go back in time to prevent his conception.

And Caillou was never born.

Hate it when this happens

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 week ago

It would be trivially easy to do this, too. If you delayed them even a second, a different sperm would probably fertilize the egg.

If I could time travel I would go back in time on the day of my conception and kick my dad in the balls so hard, he'd need medical attention
