I’ll take this a stage further and declare that fruit doesn’t go with anything.
Unpopular Opinion
Welcome to the Unpopular Opinion community!
How voting works:
Vote the opposite of the norm.
If you agree that the opinion is unpopular give it an arrow up. If it's something that's widely accepted, give it an arrow down.
Guidelines:
Tag your post, if possible (not required)
- If your post is a "General" unpopular opinion, start the subject with [GENERAL].
- If it is a Lemmy-specific unpopular opinion, start it with [LEMMY].
Rules:
1. NO POLITICS
Politics is everywhere. Let's make this about [general] and [lemmy] - specific topics, and keep politics out of it.
2. Be civil.
Disagreements happen, but that doesn’t provide the right to personally attack others. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Please also refrain from gatekeeping others' opinions.
3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.
Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.
4. Shitposts and memes are allowed but...
Only until they prove to be a problem. They can and will be removed at moderator discretion.
5. No trolling.
This shouldn't need an explanation. If your post or comment is made just to get a rise with no real value, it will be removed. You do this too often, you will get a vacation to touch grass, away from this community for 1 or more days. Repeat offenses will result in a perma-ban.
6. Defend your opinion
This is a bit of a mix of rules 4 and 5 to help foster higher quality posts. You are expected to defend your unpopular opinion in the post body. We don't expect a whole manifesto (please, no manifestos), but you should at least provide some details as to why you hold the position you do.
Instance-wide rules always apply. https://legal.lemmy.world/tos/
Pie crust?
Fruit should only stay with sweet and fruity foods. No fruit in savoury meals, chocolate, or bread/baked goods.
You missed frozen bananas in dark chocolate on popsicle sticks. They're great.
Wtf is gorp? You mean trail mix?
Chocolate oranges are great. As is chocolate with raspberry.
Maybe you're just eating too low-quality of chocolate.
I have to strongly disagree. I think chocolate is delicious with strawberries, raspberries and raisins. Heck I even love dipping banana slices in a chocolate fondue. I know, I’m weird! 😁
Yeah I disagree with every single one of these. Contrast in food is good. Varied textures are good. Sweet and sour is good. Congrats, I think you have an actually unpopular opinion.
Are you 6?
Candy apple? It works because you get the sour apple and sweet shell. One offers a palate cleanse from the other, allowing you to avoid sensory adjustment. If you don’t like sour, it’s not pleasant. But otherwise, I don’t get it
I agree with all of your examples but what about bananas and chocolate? I think the less "fruity" and more heavy taste of bananas goes quite well with chocolate.
Yeah nah that is a wrong opinion. Literally had a chocolate fondue yesterday and it was divine.
As someone else saud seek help please.
OK, I disagree but raise you one more. Chocolate covered popcorn and chocolate covered bacon are treats sent by the gods as the secret food of the initiated in the misteries of taste.
I once mentioned this, and someone actually suggested that maybe I don't like chocolate.
Yeah, you can go ahead and miss me on mixing chocolate with fruit as well as fruit with pastries.
Chocolate covered raisins are the worst thing ever.

Like it's okay, i don't hate it, but it becomes too much sweetness and unless there's something non-sweet to balance it out i won't be able to manage more than a few bites.
What goes well with chocolate is stuff like chips and nuts, salty carbs.
Chocolate covered/dipped strawberries are nice. I like the flavors. The only issue is the shell like chocolate just breaks off of the strawberry, so maybe separate chocolate and strawberry could achieve the same or better. Still, a good flavor combo and traditional fruit/chocolate.
Unpopular indeed... Hrmmph!
i actually like chocolate raspberries because it preserves the raspberries from turning to mush.
Fully agree with you actually.
You've never tried "Terrys Orange". I usually don't like the Chocolate & Fruit combo, either. But this one is surprisingly good.
Yes! Fruit and chocolate are gross together. It is nearly impossible to find an ice cream with fruit that doesn't have chocolate or white chocolate or stripes of some cocoa variety. Chocolate has absolutely ruined dessert.
