I wonder if their was also a sudden drop in pro-republican Twitter posts when the power went out.
I remember seeing this graph about posts on r/conservative and how two power "users" responsible for 30%+ of all posts both coincidentally were offline during another power outage in Moscow two months ago.
Maybe they learned from their mistake by now.
It coincided with a major holiday in the US, and the blackout was for a relatively tiny section of Moscow. I would be shocked if there were similar dips in posts other times power went out in that part of Moscow.
Hell we can test it right now, is there a much bigger drop in posts today than there was last NYE?
That's not to say conservative isnt astroturfed to hell, but the notion that its all Russians in Moscow is silly.
For that you'll gave to knockout the AI servers, which are probably redondant across multiple region.

More than 4 hours?
We had a storm in northern Europe/Scandinavia a few days ago that put tens of thousands of people without power for more than a day. Thousands are still without power even now, four days later, in the dead of winter.
Four hours is a minor inconvenience for a people used to the cold and darkness of winter. It's barely enough time to pass between two meals, lol. Barely enough time for the stuff in your freezer to start changing temperature.
Come on, hit 'em harder! π₯
I think the point is to make it difficult for Putin to lie to his people and tell them that the war is going well. It's hard to cover up an actual blackout.

I hope it stays out for the entirety of New Year's Eve, Russia's biggest holiday of the year, when the biggest event is to watch a bunch of variety shows on state TV until Putin comes on at midnight and tells the plebes to be afraid of the West and go die in the trenches.

Something that surprised me about this war is that drones don't seem to be as effective as I thought they would be. Like I thought it would be fairly simple to do something like this on day one.
Wars have a weird amount of holding back. Going after civilian infrastructure is often seen as "ungentlemanly", basically bad PR. Most Ukraine attacks like this seem to be to prove they can, not to cause significant civilian damage.
Basically, Russia has a number of nasty options, currently unused. Ukraine is also unusually dependent of foreign help, and so it is vulnerable to the world opinion changing. Ukraine is mostly proving its threats are viable.
