Welcome to the News community!
Rules:
1. Be civil
Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.
2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.
Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.
3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.
Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.
4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.
Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.
5. Only recent news is allowed.
Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.
6. All posts must be news articles.
No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.
7. No duplicate posts.
If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.
8. Misinformation is prohibited.
Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.
9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.
All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.
10. Don't copy entire article in your post body
For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

They 100% should play Jackie Wilson’s “Your Love Keeps Lifting Me Higher” at the event as a nod.

Go Busters Go Busters Go!
You can see it if you take the 6 train and stay on at the last downtown stop.
The train loops through the station and then goes uptown.
Did that when I visited New York. The conductor asked why I was staying on the train at the last stop. When I told him, he invited me to make the loop from the cab. Such a great experience.
My Dad used to bitch about NYC and New Yorkers, but he never set foot in NYC and had no idea what he was talking about. I'm a New Yorker-in-law (my wife grew up on the Upper West Side), and every we time I visit, I am always amazed by how awesome New Yorkers are.
I used to tell him: "Yeah, you'd have a rough time on NYC because you'd visit with a chip on your shoulder, and you'd get exactly the kind of reception you'd deserve. Visit with a love for the city, and you'll find friends on every block."
something something fox tells him, liberal hellholes of nyc, california, boston,,washington.
Great story!
My favorite thing to do some cold nights back in the day. They don't usually leave the station lights on.. but once in a while ya get lucky.
There's a hidden station near Delancey and Essex. They use it for training and rent it out for movies and TV shows.
And if you've never seen it, watch the original version of 'The Taking of Pelham 1-2-3' my all time favorite New York movie.
You say subway station, I say the second Turtle Lair from the TMNT

If Madami invites Vanilla Ice to perform the Ninja Rap he will become the most important politician in American history.
an official act that symbolically kicks off a new era with a tribute to an older one as well as shows a commitment to transit riders.
Mamdani said he views the station as a symbol for the aims of his upcoming administration, including the transformative politics that built the subway in the first place.
"When Old City Hall Station first opened in 1904 — one of New York’s 28 original subway stations — it was a physical monument to a city that dared to be both beautiful and build great things that would transform working peoples’ lives," Mamdani told Streetsblog in a statement. "That ambition need not be a memory confined only to our past, nor must it be isolated only to the tunnels beneath City Hall: It will be the purpose of the administration fortunate enough to serve New Yorkers from the building above.
I fell hard for Obama's Hope campaign in the first election I ever voted in, and now I try to make an effort to balance not putting too much faith into politicians with not being too much of a cynical asshole. But, I have to admit those words combined with the TMNT nostalgia vibes are tugging at my millennial heart strings. 🥹
Sen. Bernie Sanders (D-Vermont) will conduct the ceremonial swearing-in at the daytime event, which will occur alongside a car-free "block party" on Broadway between Liberty and Murray streets.
Bernie Sanders and a block party!?! Politicians making a legit effort to make the commoners feel included??!
