This percentage is the lowest recorded in the entire historical series of the National Continuous Household Sample Survey (PNAD Continua), which began in 2012.

The result indicates that 5.6 million Brazilians unsuccessfully sought employment between September and November. In October, there were 5.9 million workers looking for work.

Now, the IBGE identified 39.4 million formal workers in the quarter ending in November.

The number of people working in the country also reached a record. With a total of 103 million employed, 1.1 million more jobs were filled in November 2015 compared to the same month of the previous year.
