Midwest USA. September 2025.

I was walking around downtown with my camera in hand and while walking next to a church caught movement out of my right eye. This whitetail doe was just walking around confused. It's not too uncommon to find deer in town, but this was like a mile away from any wooded areas. I felt bad for her because she was clearly lost, but I couldn't approach her.

Your intro reads like song lyrics

I was walking around downtown
with my camera in hand
(and) while walking next to a church
caught movement out of my right eye

It doesn't rhyme, but it's got some groove in it

Super easy setup for a Bambi reference, et al

Man, I loved seeing the occasional deer in my neighborhood, but now we've got a decent pack of coyotes as well.

To rub salt in the wound, I'm pretty sure they've already pushed out the foxes, and this was traditionally going to be one of the years they den on my property.

Plus foxes won't fuck with pets, they don't want the smoke. Coyotes aren't as safe. But at least they all looked pure bred when I saw them, coywolves or even mixed with stray dogs are 1000x worse than just coyotes.
