My rule is: I'll get a tattoo when I think of one that I'll still think is cool every decade hence.
I have yet to get a tattoo.
Though current candidates:
- children's names
- family crest
Though I personally am not a tattoo fan, I can appreciate that some look cool. However, the fact that there's a lucrative business in laser removal shows that a great many people seemingly do not appreciate the permanence of a tattoo, which shows an incredible lack of forward thinking.

This is absolutely not a tattoo that will make you cringe every time when your age gets into double digits.
I really doubt someone had this inflicted upon their body, voluntarily or otherwise, when they were >10
