I used to worry about us over here in the UK being judged badly over Brexit, but you guys have, er, trumped us. This is fun to watch from 5000 miles away, but I'd hate to be there.

I used to have a Swedish running partner (doing postdoc in California). We'd argue about who had the 'least well-informed' voters (not the specific word we used). He claimed Sweden, I claimed US. He was disabusing me of the impression that all Swedes were knowledgable and cosmopolitan. Ongoing friendly argument -- until McCain picked Palin as his VP candidate. I sent him a text: 'I win.'

I don’t trust anything a serial liar says, even if it’s something I’ve been expecting to hear. I’ll wait for news from a legitimate source.

I can't be excited about consequences until there's a conviction

Even then, I expect him to get a slap on the wrist.

I expect even in the best case of him actually eating shit and going to prison in any useful capacity, we'll get a Democrat rollover and Biden will pardon him "to heal the nation" or some such feel good garbage statement in an attempt to placate the terrorist party that has only ever taken inches and ran for multiple miles.

We've been hearing stuff like this forever now. I'll wait for him to actually be convicted.

But we haven't, this is only the second time hes been indicted and these are federal charges. This is a first time in history that a former president has been federally indicted. It's quite a big deal over just investigations.

Oh man I’ve been edging for years I’m so close

Give me that sweet release.

It'll be like Niagara Falls when it finally comes.

It was a spooky ghost!

What does this mean for his presidential candidacy? Can he still run?

[–] Afkargh@beehaw.org 2 points 2 years ago

Oddly enough, he can run. But as far as I know, he would be ineligible to vote.
