FAQ
"How much does traveling cost?"
Cost of living(rent, utilities, data/wifi, groceries) is $500 USD per month for most countries, $1000 for most others.
"Health care and insurance?"
Health care and insurance abroad are both pennies on the US dollar for the highest quality of medical care
"What about visas?"
You usually don't need them; when necessary, visas are almost all entirely online: a fifteen minute e-form and nominal fee offset in your first day by the drastically lower cost of living abroad.
"How do you make money while abroad?"
Any job that nets you $500+ a month works. There are almost 2 billion English students globally right now, so native English speakers have lucked into a guaranteed job on or offline.
"What qualifications do I need as an English teacher?"
Some countries and schools require a TEFL certificate or prefer candidates with an associate's degree depending on the position, but if you want to teach English, all you need is to be a fluent English speaker.

How in the world do you earn that much, teaching English online? Do you need crazy credentials or d6i you "just" wing it?
I winged it, wung it up.
With almost 2 billion English students worldwide, English speakers can begin teaching very easily. Pay is largely dependent on the country you choose; credentials and experience help but are not necessary to begin teaching English.
Recent job postings in Beijing offer 400 RMB/hr teaching English. That's ~$57 USD
Here's one from today.
57x40 hours per week = 2280
2280 x 4 weeks = 9120
If you live outside of the US for 330+ days a year, you don't pay income tax on that money, either.
Do you have to get work or digital nomad visas?
If you're teaching in-person, you should get a work visa because if you get noticed and kicked out, they won't let you back in to that country.
If you have online work, you don't need a digital nomad visa unless you're planning on living there long term so you can avoid visa runs(exiting and entering a country to renew your stay). Most countries have specific exemptions for online work or don't mention it at all.
