The International Meeting of Communist and Workers' Parties (IMCWP) is an annual conference attended by communist and workers' parties from several countries. It originated in 1998 when the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) invited communist and workers' parties to participate in an annual conference where parties could gather to share their experiences and issue a joint declaration. The most recent and 23rd meeting of the IMCWP is being held in October 2023 in Izmir and hosted by the Communist Party of Turkey (modern).

Organization

The Working Group (WG) of International Meeting of Communist and Workers' Parties (IMCWP) is composed of Communist Parties throughout the world. The task of the working group is to prepare and organize the International Meetings of Communist and Workers' Parties (IMCWPs).

The meetings are held annually, with participants from all around the globe. Additionally, there are occasionally extraordinary meetings such as the meeting in Damascus in September 2009 on "Solidarity with the heroic struggle of the Palestinian people and the other people in Middle East". In December 2009, the communist and workers' parties agreed to the creation of the International Communist Review, which is published annually in English and Spanish and has a website.

The 23rd International Meeting of Communist and Workers Parties

The 23rd International Meeting of Communist and Workers Parties (IMCWP) begins today in Izmir, Turkey, hosted by the country's Communist Party (TKP).

The Meeting is held between 20-22 October, under the following subject: "The political and ideological battles to confront capitalists and imperialism. The tasks of communists to inform and mobilize the working class, youth, women, and intellectuals in the struggle against exploitation, oppression, imperialist lies and historical revisionism; for the social and democratic rights of workers and peoples; against militarism and war, for peace and socialism."

Learning about the risks of antibiotics resistance and how the meat industry literally just puts animals on a 24/7 diet of antibiotics so they don't have to fix harmful and unhygienic conditions is such a deranged experience.

Like what the fuck are these freaks doing they are literally making a farm for bacteria that will survive everything, in any reasonable world they'd be shot for doing this shit, you're making biological weapons.

[–] Frank@hexbear.net 23 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Pretty insane, huh? Without a shakeup (death to capitalism) there's a good chance the age of antibiotics will only end up being ~150 years, if it lasts that long.

[–] Huldra@hexbear.net 21 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Yeah they keep telling us for these courses that the disinfection and sterilizing work we'll be doing is the best defense we have against antibiotic resistance, but I cant really feel like thats true when like theres just the US over there refusing to implement any kind of federal regulations or bans on this from what I could tell.

Edit: Also speaking of the US, apparently there are some hospitals where they treat the washing and sterilizing of surgical equipment like a dishwashing job, so people just get hired with no training or experience and then they don't know how to properly do stuff, like they put cameras inside of suction equipment and the inside just was never washed because they decided to penny pinch on basic fundamental safety hygiene work, and the people put to work had no idea how to do it properly.

Amusing seeing Americans screaming and crying about “why won’t you condemn Hamas you need to condemn Hamas” when half this country can’t make up its mind if people who owned slaves and fought for their “right” to have them were in fact bad

sooooooo my shitty roommate's phone passcode (she told me) is "1-4-8-8". i asked her if she knew what that meant and she got really flustered and changed the conversation. she's sucked up hard with the landlord, too, so i can't easily get her evicted.

what I would like Hexbear to do, is allow me to borrow the energy of the group-spirit temporarily to get rid of this freak

On my performance review

My boss: I notice you perform you tasks correctly and then go home all relaxed but I have to ask… do you even like the job?

Me (vibing at heights thought to be unreachable by spanish conquistadors): What does it mean to like something?

I used my adblocker to block Youtube's "YOU CANT USE AN ADBLOCKER ANYMORE!!!" popup, and while I cant scroll down any page with a video anymore, I still get to watch the videos without seeing ads. Im winning.

[–] Frank@hexbear.net 18 points 2 years ago (2 children)

It's super cool how google destroyed the internet with soe and shit, and now that there's no where else left to go they're cranky that we don't want to watch the commercials they destroyed the internet to force us to watch.

[–] asa_red_heathen@hexbear.net 16 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I love being forced to watch two 15 second ads before i get to see the 5 second meme clip that popped up on my feed. thats really cool google thank you.

I will literally spend more time manually blocking an ad on my phone than i would have spent just watching it out of pure spite. I fucking hate ads so much.

[–] Frank@hexbear.net 20 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Advertising is a crime. It just flat is. Trying to seize control of someone's attention and change their thoughts and beliefs when they're just moving through the world isn't meaningfully different from shoving someone.

My dealer: got some straight heat 🔥new strain “Kamala Harris” you'll be absolutely blasted

Me: yeah whatever. I don’t feel shit.

5 minutes later: You think you just fell out of a coconut tree? [uncomfortable laugh] You exist in the context of all in which you live and came before you.

My buddy Phillip pacing: [singing the wrong tune] The wheels on the bus go round and round! [uncomfortable laugh]

Mental illness is like inverse warfare. Long periods of terror punctuated by moments of intense boredom. I want to go to bed but i slept all day bc i was up all last night with nightmares and The Fear.

It's really funny to think about how Call of Duty has become a series where they lean fully into games as a service and have basically an indefinite life cycle of each game in mind now but also STILL release a new one every year. Simultaneously one foot in the present and one foot in the past

cw: mention of suicideIt's crazy how many gen Z have attempted suicide. This is anecdotal but I feel like it's got to be more common than it was with millenials. My first was at 12, a friend's was at 14. Another friend's at 15. And another was successful at 16. And I know 2 people who I suspect to have gone through the same but I don't know them well enough to have this topic come up, who knows how many have.
