Welcome to !reddit. This is a community for all news and discussions about Reddit.

The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

Rules

Rule 1- No brigading.

**You may not encourage brigading any communities or subreddits in any way. **

YSKs are about self-improvement on how to do things.

Rule 2- No illegal or NSFW or gore content.

**No illegal or NSFW or gore content. **

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Posts and comments which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-Reddit posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.

If you vocally harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here. This includes using AI responses and summaries.

MODERATORS

I don't read r/conservative much but what I've seen is they keep banning actual conservatives because they correctly call out what Trump is doing on things where it's not about left and right but right and wrong.

Some people are saying that it could be coincidental. OP asks why would the two accounts who post so regularly just happen to both stop at the same time on that day.

I remember when Russia cut itself off from the internet for like 3 days, and virtually every social media site I frequented was a lot calmer and nicer for those days. It was surreal seeing how fucking much of the internet is just Russia.

[–] tired_n_bored@lemmy.world 16 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Not only that, but these two users post with the same pattern: 4-5 posts in a burst and then staying quiet.

[–] Eezyville@sh.itjust.works 4 points 6 days ago (2 children)

Makes you just want to build a script that tracks and analyze these accounts but I would feel to totalitarian doing that. I just block them.

[–] Taldan@lemmy.world 9 points 6 days ago

That's not totalitarian, it's just journalism

[–] Canconda@lemmy.ca 7 points 6 days ago

That's why reddit made its API access exorbitantly expensive.

[–] SarahFromOz@lemmy.world 24 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Maybe 30% - 50% of content on any subreddit is bots / shills?

Dead internet theory and all that.

It certainly seems like the same old comments over and over on reddit these days...

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 6 points 6 days ago

50% actually, its growing i suspect.

Conservative used to actually be kind of split. I remember back in the day, maybe around 2010 or so, could have been later, there were a bunch of people who said things like the state staying out of marriage is a conservative position. I guess more of the libertarian type folks but still, it was more ideologically diverse back then.

[–] Bamboodpanda@lemmy.world 18 points 6 days ago

That ideological diversity did not just fade on its own. Over the past decade it has been actively pruned away. Spaces like r/conservative now routinely permaban anyone who steps outside an approved line, including the kind of libertarian arguments that used to be common. What remains is a tightly controlled echo chamber that presents itself as grassroots discussion while functioning more like propaganda. Given that shift, it is hard to take it seriously as a place for real conservative debate.

[–] GreenShimada@lemmy.world 9 points 6 days ago (1 children)

The brand of wackadoo on /r/Conspiracy used to be different, too. Less hostile and agenda-pushy, just sort of anything that didn't belong in /r/UFOs or whatever. Now it's just /r/Conservative with no filter.

[–] eronth@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 6 days ago

That change was actually really sad to see. Conspiracy used to actually have some fun conspiracies, even if most were ultimately a bit too outlandish or unprovable. Now it's just your standard deep-state conspiracy shit.

[–] Echolynx@lemmy.zip 6 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Algorithmic flattening comes for us all.

[–] Fedizen@lemmy.world 6 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Dollar for dollar it seems like it might be cheaper to bribe trump with bitcoins than run an internet disinfo campaign. But what do I know?

[–] falseWhite@lemmy.world 20 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (2 children)

It's not about Trump. Presidents come and go, but the population and society stays for the next election and the next president.

[–] end_stage_ligma@lemmy.world 3 points 6 days ago

Are you telling me that we live in a society?

Everyone who isn't a current /r/conservative user already knows this.

[–] Batmorous@lemmy.world 3 points 6 days ago (3 children)

Conservatives need brand new online communities that do not push them farther into the brain rot. Seriously are there any good online communities for them still around?

[–] drmoose@lemmy.world 12 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Conservatives need brand new online communities that do not push them farther into the brain rot.

That's an oxymoron as conservatism is already a brain rot

[–] aceshigh@lemmy.world 8 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Yup because they’re anti education.

[–] drmoose@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I feel like "conservatism" has lost all rationality. I do get that it's totally possible that "not rocking the boat" could be a good solution to society's progress for some niches but 99% of the time it's absolutely irational.

In fact, most conservative issues like "traditional family unit", "gun freedom" are better approached through progressive frame like incentives to celebrate local culture and protecting human rights like rights to self defence - these are fundamentally progressive thoughts that actually solve the issue in a real meaningful way rather than just hiding behind in-action.

I really try to understand conservatism as a thought movement but there seems to be no actual thought behind it. I genuinely don't get it.

[–] aceshigh@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago (1 children)

It looks contradictory but there is logic to it. They want hierarchies, just like there was before - where Christian white men are on top and everyone else has no rights. Those are the “traditional values” they want to uphold. If you filter everything through that lens, their actions start to make sense. Technically this isn’t called conservatism (since this isn’t about a monarchy), but that’s the label they gave it.

[–] drmoose@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago

But that's not conservatism per se, it's just fascism

[–] hayvan@feddit.nl 7 points 6 days ago

The problem is they like the brain rot. It would be like taking away booze from an alcoholic. It can only be done if they accept they have a problem.

[–] pupbiru@aussie.zone 2 points 6 days ago

i would wager that these quickly get perverted
