Standardized tests suck, though. They're actively harmful to students. Good riddance. If you go back far enough you'll find out that the forced implementation of standardized testing was one of the early offensives in the campaign to destroy US public education by "proving" that public education was a failure.
"The public school teacher couldn't get the kid who started learning english six months ago to read at the exact same level as a native speaker? Skill issue, destroy the union that let such an incompetent keep their job."
this is one of those article titles that was designed in a right wing think tank to produce maximum 
outrage.
"THE WOKE LEFT THINKS BLACK PEOPLE SHOULDN'T BE HELD TO THE SAME STANDARDS!!!! THE WOKE LEFT WANTS EVERYONE TO BE ILLITERATE THUGS!!!" is the reaction they want to generate in the readership. You can just tell.
Standardized testing is bullshit; they're often rife with biases. They shouldn't be used to judge students, they shouldn't be used to judge teachers, and they don't improve the quality of education.
