*Demand includes an undisclosed amount of supply earmarked for AI firms, with no set price, or buy guarantee and could change at any point in time. But they gave a pinky promise and have billions of dollars in funds that could disappear overnight, so it's legit.

I'm starting to regret not buying additional 2x 16gb ddr4 sticks when i had the chance earlier this year. I still dont need 64gb RAM and probably wont for another 2-3 years. But it would have been nice to have the peace of mind of just having some redudancy for the low price of 50 bucks(back then).

I never had ram fail on me in the past but those sticks are now six years old already and i dont plan to upgrade before second gen AM6 motherboards come around.

On the positive side: That AM4 system 6 years ago was probably my best hardware purchase i've ever done. Unless the hardware breaks i can ride it out for 10 years if i have too. Still plenty of juice left in my now 5800X3D/6900XT combo. Thanks to that int8 FSR4 leak 4K is still on the table with modern UE5 titles. Which is pretty insane considering how fast GPUs aged in the past.

I just had an 8GB stick of DDR4 fail on me and it was painful to replace. Not least because I couldn't get a matching stick from the same manufacturer of the original 2x8GB pair that I had, so I now have mismatched sticks from different manufacturers. At least they are both the same speed and latency, and dual channel seems to work fine under memtest86+.

The second worst part after the price was that I got sent an RGB stick when I ordered non-RGB and now I feel like I'm at a 24/7 disco.

I've had the resources and intent to build a new PC since about Aug of this year, but was busy with some major work projects + some mid-tier family drama, so kicked it down the road with the goals of pulling the trigger over the holidays.

Fuck, what a mistake that was.

I gotta agree. My 5900X, 32GB of DDR4 and 9070XT should keep me good for the foreseeable future anyway. Would be nice to have 64GB though if only to have more options.

Only downside is that I can't easily upgrade my small home server/NAS which only has 16GB in it. It doesn't really need more, and I can't imagine more services beyond the ones I have on it currently, but it would be nice to have more space there to expand if I want just in case. It was built in microATX case and consumer board though for space and reusing existing components laying around, so only 2 slots which means replacing not adding sticks to upgrade unfortunately.
