Rest In Power, Michael Brooks.
it's so wild to hear that. it's funny about the vegans though, i would wager a fair amount of us do eat meat, and we've just landed on rules that mostly keep things from getting out of hand. maybe that's just because i remember the original struggle session though
I remember those days. We lost a lot of good (and bad) comrades from that one
this is how i win. i stay quiet during the struggle sessions so that i can seize power later. i would say that was one of the rougher ones too.
Be polite
Be calm
Have a plan to kill everyone you meet

When the soul of a poster is born on this website nets are flung at it to hold it back from flight. You speak to me of "struggle sessions", "bans for libs", "outdoor cats". I shall try to fly by these nets.
The only Khrushchev I can respect
That struggle session brings back some bad memories. We lost some indigenous comrades over it. Broke my heart.
our vegans are well-meaning but very aggressive
Damn straight
Vegans are right though. They are the only people who go ALL THE WAY with what Marx called "the ruthless criticism of all that exists" and the general fight against oppression.
(also even from a purely selfish standpoint that doesn't care about the environment or ethics, they make really good points about meat being carcinogenic trash that destroys your body)
Yeahh, agreed. Tbh all the vegan agitation here is what made me decide to stop eating meat. In the west, it's just taken for granted that animal slaughter is good and natural and that animals are beneath us and so they deserve their fate. It's completely fucked. I hadn't thought about it and how inseparable animal liberation is from all liberation from oppressive systems until I came here.
I think vegans, in the same way that communists do, can sometimes fail to meet people where they're at, though. Carnism is so ingrained in people's thinking and the way food is produced that it will be a long and difficult project to see carnism's end.
"Commandism is wrong in any type of work, because in overstepping the level of political consciousness of the masses and violating the principle of voluntary mass action it reflects the disease of impetuosity. Our comrades must not assume that everything they themselves understand is understood by the masses. Whether the masses understand it and are ready to take action can be discovered only by going into their midst and making investigations. If we do so, we can avoid commandism..." -Mao Zedong, "On Coalition Government" (April 24, 1945)
That’s why it hurts to hear as a communist, you assume because you’re fighting for the liberation of all people, that you’ve reached the endpoint of moral goodness
They are the only people who go ALL THE WAY with what Marx called "the ruthless criticism of all that exists" and the general fight against oppression.
Rather, a subset of them, since imperial dog vegans exist and are probably the majority in the first world. It's an intersection between substantial leftists and vegans that meet this metric, I guess you could say.
vegans are well-meaning but very aggressive
probably from that one time they jumped down his throat for absolutely no fucking reason. Thank god he has the patience of the saint.
