The people who knock self driving systems often forget how dumb a lot of drivers are.
Didn't self driving fall for this exact thing
ACME self driving.
People drive when they have to. If you've put in a double shift you're not going to be at your best.
I also knock off car-first cities. A tram will not go full looney toons. And I expect that the professional drivers that are actually needed in a city will also not do it that often.

I've seen tram drivers do incredibly stupid things. But yeah, they generally stick to the rails.
Also fully autonomous subways have been operational since like 2010, unlike tezzla

Few Years ago I read an article like " study finds you can get self driving cars to crash by throwing a human shaped pupped in front of them". I was like, yeah no shit that also works for humans.

You are not dumb for making this mistake.
Ok but that's just evil.
They painted it at a T junction, you can see there's a road coming from the opposite direction, and at night, anybody who's not local could have fallen for that and just assumed it was normal crossroads.
There's also barely, if any, sidewalk in front of the painting, that could at least have alerted the driver.
It's pure luck that the guy wasn't driving fast, or there'd be dead bodies because of this stupid prank. This needs jail time, even if suspended.
it’s a parking lot, a bar did that as a joke, not a graffiti art.
It never actually happened, though the painting did briefly exist before being painted over in 2015.
At night, I hope you drive with your lights on and see that the light somehow can not make it through the entry of the tunnel.
It looks like a cartoon tunnel that no one should be fooled by unless they were severely distracted or impaired. The lack of signage should make it obvious.
Lotta party poopers in these comments. I'm with you. Many indicators this is a flat, painted picture if a driver is paying attention and going appropriate speeds.
Tesla's on "full" ""auto"" """pilot""" will plow right into what looks like a road. Mike or Mark Robber tested various self driving cars against a painted curtain with boxes behind it, Tesla's not only failed to stop, they would disengage auto-pilot a split second before colliding, so doesn't count as auto failure.
Tesla plows into emergency vehicles with lights flashing, it also tries to run into regular walls on occasion. It's hardly relevant to anything about driving skills.

I guess the driver forgot to say "meep meep". That always worked for the bird.
