Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Chances are that he is not just lying, he is really that disconnected from reality due to both his narcissism and dementia.

[–] TexasDrunk@lemmy.world 19 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Let's not forget the liars and yes men he surrounds himself with in case a crumb of reality does get past the narcissism and dementia.

[–] Buffalox@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

Absolutely, they probably have a pretty serious circle jerk going on there.

[–] redlemace@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

as has putin and see how that worked out for him. 'his' army was in great shape when they tried to take Ukraine

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 32 points 2 days ago (4 children)

Wake me up when he says anything factual.

[–] redlemace@lemmy.world 15 points 2 days ago (2 children)

In that case, I sure hope you have faith in Cryonics technology

[–] Tolookah@discuss.tchncs.de 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

This is how the situation in Idiocracy happens in life. Next thing they know they're gonna wake up and everyone will be wearing crocs

[–] athairmor@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

At least Starbucks will have something I can’t get for practically free at home.

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

You underestimate how tired I am

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

I think the one accurate statement was "People can't believe what's going on!"

Yes, well that's true!

[–] devolution@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

You might as well freeze me with Walt Disney's head as I'm never waking up at that rate.

[–] Almacca@aussie.zone 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

That's gonna be a loooooong nap.

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago (2 children)

30,000+ confirmed lies in his first term alone.

That's not just being a politician. That's deep psychological damage.

[–] Insekticus@aussie.zone 3 points 1 day ago

No wonder he couldn't even make a casino profitable.

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

I remember when W.'s administration got caught with theirs, it was something like 900 lies across the entire administration and we yelled about that! Bush, Cheney, Rice, Rummy, Powell, the lot of them added up to 900.

Trump: "Hold my Diet Coke:"

[–] ramble81@lemmy.zip 17 points 2 days ago (1 children)

At least it was just his usual lies and not something like “we’re going to war with Venezuela”

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

That's what I was afraid of when he announced a surprise speech...

[–] lost_faith@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 days ago

Same, I even tried to watch his speech but... just... couldn't... finish it

[–] fox2263@lemmy.world 21 points 2 days ago (1 children)

He likely thinks most of it is true because of the sycophants telling him so.

he's probably senile enough to believe everything he says.

[–] devolution@lemmy.world 14 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Fact check: Fact checking has been made unofficially illegal in the US due to conservatives and cuckoldemocrats.

[–] ImgurRefugee114@reddthat.com 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I'm amazed they bother going through the effort anymore

[–] Dionysus@leminal.space 8 points 2 days ago

When we eventually really Make America Great Again and follow 15th century traditions like the French Revolution, we'll want to have full accurate records to make them listen to before the big drop.

But were his pants on fire?

[–] KingGordon@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

No. They were also full of shit.

[–] monkeyslikebananas2@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Don’t you think he looks tired?

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago

He seems to get enough nappy naps.

Remember when the complaint was "Who do you want answering the phone at 3 AM?"

Who could have predicted back then that 3 PM would be the real problem?

Breaking news: Water is wet.

[–] Rhaedas@fedia.io 5 points 2 days ago

Water is wet. The sky is blue. Space is cold. None of these are as true as their phrase implies, as there's a lot of technicality involved.

Trump is a liar. Solid truth. No deviation there.
