beach pictures

very few shells have washed up

the current has swept at least 10 cm deep of sand away leaving the stony layer exposed

went the long way home , up to the small river at the end of my street and took a photo of the mangrove swamp

and past the park at the railway crossing there is a small memorial for the person who passed a few weeks agoπŸ˜”

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 6 points 1 day ago

It's just a very little swamp but this is only 11 km from Melb CBD

Good night everyone, sweet flying ironing board dreams 😽

[–] Catfish@aussie.zone 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Dammit, annoying neighbours have not gone overseas for the next few weeks. That amount of luggage gave hope

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

whispers

Put them in the luggage

Apply stamps

Not sure I have enough rip saw blades

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Just origami them and sit on the lid

Rode the kids over to a park to see Santa then up to a fish and chip place for dinner. It felt like what I used to do with them more often when they were younger, I need to make time to do this sort of thing with them more often

And first tumble of paddle boarding season goes to meeee... and I was sitting...

Pretty light

spoilerI was not able to take Melbcat out today.

I genuinely don’t like being out there and don’t feel safe in my yard. (External and still relevant reason for that. Continuing safety issue.) I try to tolerate it for my cat’s happiness.

But this morning I just couldn’t face it. So she cried and banged on the door while I had an anxiety attack. FML. I hate it here.

Gonna see if I can salvage the rest of the day with unkaos but I am so tired.

Hugs

Is there some way she can see outside a window or door safely?

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 3 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Yeah, I put the blinds up on one window so she can see out and lie in the sun when it reaches inside. And she gets to look out the screen doors.

I also bought her a bunch of different toys the whole time I’ve had her seeing if any were good but she didn’t like most of them.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

then she's just being a sook

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 2 points 1 day ago

Probably wants to roam the neighbourhood throwing hands with rival cats and investigating bird cages

And I had the weirdest chance encounter today. I ran into the former singer of Twelve Foot Ninja where he currently works. I got to tell him how my kids are obsessed with 'Sickman' as we've dubbed him from their Sick music video. Although I felt like it needed a bit of context as to why we were showing 3 year olds (who were younger at the time they first watched it) the Sick music video.

Back from shopping, got everything on my list. Daiso have all kinds of cleaning wipes big enough to use on my floor wipe mop. Makes it easy πŸ˜€πŸ‘

And had my once yearly Honey Chicken with fried rice lunch from the mall food court. It's nice once a year.

Honey chicken reminds me of my husband many years ago asking what was in the bain marie in a food court. He thought the Asian lass said "horny chicken" and he replied "how does that work exactly?" He'd never heard of honey chicken before.

I went and filled up the strays water and accidentally woke them up.

That was incredibly adorable lol

[–] Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 11 points 1 day ago (1 children)

At this point they're not strays anymore, they're yours lol.

I'm too young for 9 cats lol

Congrats to that guy on his new cat

[–] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 5 points 1 day ago

There is a bit of spider web waving around in my garage and the camera thinks it is a person and keeps alerting me about it.

I don't know if anyone has had any particular problems with Logitech but I've been using this Rapoo mouse I got off Aliexpress for a while and I'd be quite willing to sell my soul and swap ecosystems. It's not quite as good, but for a bit over $50 for a Master series replacement you really can't complain.

[–] Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I need a new mouse. Will give them a go.

[–] tombruzzo@aussie.zone 2 points 23 hours ago

You can get their stuff so much cheaper on Aliexpress than the regular stores around here. I got the rapoo mt760l and it has been perfectly serviceable. They also do a keyboard/trackpad combo like the Logitech one I really like. I may get one of those later just for the heck of it

[–] tombruzzo@aussie.zone 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I brought in some bluetooth speakers and played christmas music at work yesterday, and people said it was boring. Now other people were playing music when I got in today. How about I play Slimelord's debut album and see what they think? If you're into sludge it's really good and will retroactively be on your 2024 best of

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 4 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I woulda Whamageddoned everyone then played Mariah on repeat.

[–] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 7 points 1 day ago

We played Mariah once a few years back and one of my coworkers, who is normally quite placid, absolutely flipped his shit and threatened to walk out. It was amazing. Yes, he's been teased about it since but still no one dares to put Mariah on again.

[–] tombruzzo@aussie.zone 4 points 1 day ago

I was trying to play 'good' christmas music but the all horn quartet of Ghengis Barbie seemed to be too relaxing. They came by the recommendation of David Byrne!

Dreamt of escaping a volcanic eruption with Gordon Ramsey on a flying ironing board. Wtf brain.

Also, have discovered mice in the backyard.

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Were you trying to destroy Gordon Ramsey in the source of his power?

[–] Catfish@aussie.zone 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

This deeply confuses me. But that whole show does.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 points 1 day ago

Gordon was your Sam and the ironing board was Gwaihir the eagle.

Off to Daiso before the weather gets warm. πŸ™‚

and I think I will buy all the kid's presents from Miniso, that place was a hit last time with them.

[–] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 4 points 1 day ago

I love Miniso and am not so patiently waiting for the day their Mofusand collection comes to Melbourne. It's currently in their Sydney flagship store and I have the compulsion to check every Miniso store I see just in case there's something Mofusand in there.

Have fun with your shopping!!

I got so much done yesterday. I can sit back today and watch the cricket, maybe with a beer or 2.
