"Wow, he raised the prices of everything after he campaigned on lowering prices! I love you, Mr. Trump!!"

"Wow, he's lowering the cost of coffee to a bit higher than it was before he raised the prices of everything! I love you, Mr. Trump!! You're going all-in on affordability!"

"Wow, the price of coffee is still as high as it was before he signed a bill because American companies realized that Americans will pay the higher price for them! What a brilliant victory for Mr. Trump!!"

That is what these people sound like.

It's possible a significant portion of Republicans are closeted and repressed sado-masochists that keep having political outbursts in lieu of expressing themselves in a more appropriate environment.

[–] Jhex@lemmy.world 10 points 3 days ago (2 children)

a simpler explanation is that they are all morons

[–] MotoAsh@piefed.social 6 points 3 days ago

Definitely both. Sadistic morons.

[–] Rekorse@sh.itjust.works 4 points 3 days ago

Turns out if you are really stupid, you won't even notice when you are a shitty person.

t: “I am adding tariffs to the foods you sell.”

Seller: “we will raise our prices to cover the cost of the tariffs.”

Customers: “we can’t afford the foods and won’t buy as much.”

t: “I am removing the tariffs I added earlier. Now you can lower prices.”

Customer: “yeah. Lower your prices now.”

Seller: “…no.”

[–] wuffah@lemmy.world 80 points 3 days ago

A weak person’s idea of strength.

[–] ikidd@lemmy.world 15 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Gee, tariffs cause inflation? I was informed otherwise by trusted felons.

[–] Goldholz@lemmy.blahaj.zone 9 points 3 days ago

*trusted rapist pedo traitor coupist fellon

[–] DarkSideOfTheMoon@lemmy.world 22 points 3 days ago (1 children)

The sad part many people will see this as him doing something to reduce prices…

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago

Turns out that now that he is older his libido is down. This means less women and children are getting raped. We should applaud him for this reduction!

[–] minorkeys@lemmy.world 14 points 3 days ago (1 children)

That's what tyranny is like. It's very similar to Stockholm syndrome. The person hurting you stops hurting you as much and you thank them for it.

[–] orbitz@lemmy.ca 7 points 3 days ago (1 children)

That's why the US defunded education, then people can't understand what is being done and accept their propoganda.

[–] minorkeys@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago

Not even hyperbole. Education tends to make people more left, so the right systematically destroyed it in red states. They don't care that people make worse choices into heir lives, they just want to stay in power.

[–] apfelwoiSchoppen@lemmy.world 31 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

The damage is done Don, you fucking dimwit. Prices will remain.

[–] Remember_the_tooth@lemmy.world 21 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I kinda think that was the point. He's been taking bribes openly for a while now.

[–] apfelwoiSchoppen@lemmy.world 17 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

Perhaps, but I'm sold on the fact that he's just that stupid. I have a coworker that is a NY Trumper that seriously believed what they were told by the admin about tariffs: that the businesses overseas should pay those, not consumers. I really believe Trump thought that. He's a cave man.

(Apologies to all the cave man homies out there.)

[–] Remember_the_tooth@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago (1 children)

That's a fair point. I do favor the hypothesis that he's only successful as a scam artist, making him effectively a ouija-board planchette controlled by his entourage who are all controlled by billionaires, think tanks, and foreign states.

[–] Rekorse@sh.itjust.works 3 points 3 days ago

I think half of america thinks its impossible to be worth millions/billions of dollars and be completely stupid. We are surrounded by absurdly rich imbeciles.

[–] Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works 7 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Trump is such a covfefe piece of shit.

[–] Agent641@lemmy.world 9 points 3 days ago

Create a problem, sell the solution. Second oldest trick in the book.

[–] muusemuuse@sh.itjust.works 7 points 3 days ago

I still have my phone set to autocorrect that to covfefe.

[–] Lemminary@lemmy.world 8 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Damn, that's like the most (and only?) real Christian thing he has ever done.

Someone post the Eric Andre shooting Hannibal meme.

[–] Psythik@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago (1 children)
[–] JackbyDev@programming.dev 4 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Good point. Note to future self: It needs to be in reverse because Trump is undoing it.

[–] Shamber@lemmy.world 16 points 3 days ago

Meet Eric, Eric has the brain of fruit fly, Eric quotes Charlie Kirk for "inspiration", don't be like Eric, read a book instead and keep your idiotic opinions to your self, help make the world a better place

[–] D_C@sh.itjust.works 18 points 3 days ago (4 children)

"Stop moaning, I'm going to stitch up that wound...that I caused by stabbing you repeatedly.
THANK ME, THEN! TELL ME HOW GLORIOUS AND NICE I AM!!"

[–] Remember_the_tooth@lemmy.world 9 points 3 days ago (1 children)

That's exactly what that is, bringing them $20 flowers after forcibly pimping them out for $200.

[–] infinitesunrise@slrpnk.net 6 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Nope, they'll still be $200. Suppliers would be idiots to lower prices, it's free normalized margin now and insurance in case Trump puts the tariff back again.

I agree with your assessment of what will happen with prices.

I should clarify that I meant he forcibly extracted a value from his victims that's at least an order of magnitude greater than anything he's offered in return, making it a symbolic gesture at best, and too little, too late.

How do American cattle ranchers feel about imported beef being made more affordable? Serious question.

[–] ikidd@lemmy.world 7 points 3 days ago

As a Canadian rancher/farmer, I listen to US cattle podcasters and commenters and laugh my fucking ass off. They're fucking livid. It's true face-eating leopard time.

[–] Typotyper@sh.itjust.works 3 points 3 days ago

Tyson is closing a major meat processing plant in Nebraska, so prices should stay high because of the artificial bottleneck in the supply chain. Profits however will increase because of lower tariffs

Stop hitting yourself! Ah, do you see how my hands, which have been tightly wrapped around your wrists this whole time, are currently not making you hit yourself? You're welcome.

[–] FatVegan@leminal.space 12 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Donald Trump cold rape a child on daytime tv and then shoot it in the face. The next day he'll ban guns to protect children and Americans would cheer him on

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 11 points 3 days ago (1 children)

“..and 1/3rd of Americans would cheer him on.” While another 1/6 would ignore it or try to blame it on the libs. The centrists would shrug and say “both sides…” The people on the left would be outraged, and Schumer would OK replacing the bloodstained carpet after a few weeks of ineffective negotiating.

[–] Remember_the_tooth@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

This is more accurate. Don't forget the part about hundreds of members of congress waiting for the guns to be destroyed before buying up arms manufacturer stocks and voting to overturn the ban. I think that's how that would go.

Edit: missing a word

Prices aren’t coming down because record profits and shareholders. The only thing that will bring prices down in this godforsaken dystopia is guillotines

The serial stabber telling you he’ll stop stabbing a couple specific body parts. They expect praise for their benevolence. Praise them, you common chattel.

Didn't he just say the affordibility crisis was a conspiracy created by the democrats at a rally two days ago?

It's true. I found this hilarious timeline.

[–] abfarid@startrek.website 6 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Affordability is a Democrat hoax.

Yeah, same old story. Coolidge and Hoover worked so hard to get inflation down. Hoover had it down to -10% by 1933, but then fascist FDR hoodwinked the American people and cherry-picked that perfect economy! He jacked inflation up to over 12% by 1942! Some other stuff happened, too, as I recall, but that inflation, though! I guess some things never change.

We NEED Tariffs to PROTECT our National Security and Pocketbooks!
