Even back then we can see the mental distancing of Judaism and Islam when they should be in solidarity with one another. This line just rubs me in the wrong way that I can't describe fully.

Ben Gurion was militantly secular. I think in this case he’s saying “God” in the sense of what the theologian Paul Tillich called “ultimate purpose.”

The site this seems to be from also defends these quotes with, I kid you not, comparing his advocacy of ethnic cleansing to Washington's owning of slaves, as if it's OK because "Other country's founding leaders did bad stuff, too, but that doesn't mean those countries are all bad!" which only makes sense if you are either a baby-brained liberal or literal ghoul
