It's bad enough shit like this happens overseas. It's even worse that this can happen here, literally on the other side of the world.

Well it happens in Sydney, and to a lesser extent Melbourne. It does frustrate me a bit that these things get framed as Australian issues when they're often not.

i don’t get how it’s not an australian issue for an australian to shoot a bunch of people in australia

Look through the list of terrorist attacks (successful and prevented) in Australia, you'll consistently see the same two cities coming up. It is hysterical and/or arrogant to immediately frame this as a national issue when it's just simply not. Australia is not mono-cultural, we shouldn't be extrapolating out from two cities and pretending the other ~60% of the population suddenly has something to fear.

Man you're not even correct on your claims.

"The most populous states have the highest number of people doing shit" yeah it's called statistical probability.

but there’s only 2 cities in australia

Horrific. This is horrible, I hope the ambulance are able to help all the wounded. It's important that we do what we can, as a community, to help support those affected.

The heroic response from those around, including citizens and the police, probably saved many lives, and it's important that we recognise their courage.

Fucking pussy little cunts, I hope that one in hospital survives so we can send him to our worst prison where he can live his life getting fucking beat the living fuck out of like the cowardly little bitch cunt he is.. the other one is dead, good fucking riddance.

God I hope he survives so he can face the Consequences of being a bitch cunt.

Lock him in a cell with some of our worst criminals and leave them be, Ohh after telling them what he did of course.

I can’t find news that one is dead. Can you let me know what source you used please?

Edit: found it. Yahoo news is reporting that one of the gunmen is dead, one in custody with ten others dead. ABC is reporting three dead, ten wounded, both gunmen in custody as at 8:23 pm Sydney time

Whoever that guy was that disarmed one of the shooters should have free drinks at every single bar in Australia.

[–] philpo@feddit.org 6 points 1 day ago

Around the world. He is literally the hero we don't deserve.

I am currently living in central Europe and I am fairly sure we could get him a drink in almost every bar here. Or more.

Fking ballsy, one turn and he wouldve been fucked.

ABC have since updated:

Police media have confirmed to the ABC that 10 people have died in this evening's shooting at Bondi Beach, including one of the shooters and nine victims.

Twelve people were also injured, including multiple police officers responding to the incident.

A second shooter is among the injured, and is in custody.

Yeah I saw footage, one guy is completely down. Looks like the rifleman was wounded, and mister disarmed is the one now confirmed dead.
