Bills getting belted by Pats. Not surprised. Vrabel's always had physical teams that McDermott can't match.

[–] dhork@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (2 children)

The Bills are making a game of it now. They are a much better 2nd half team, all year long.

Edit: Holy shit, they pulled it off

[–] BanaramaClamcrotch@lemmy.zip 3 points 5 days ago

They are this years chiefs getting bailed out by the refs basically

[–] RandAlThor@lemmy.ca 3 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Holyshit yeah they won. I know like Bills struggled against Vrabel's Titans even when they were shitty. Vrabel has physical teams and that's what this Pats team is and McDermott's defense usually struggles against that. Wow I'm shocked. have to watch replay.

[–] Mim@lemmy.zip 4 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I should watch the Patriots more often. Every time I do, they aren't exactly playing up to the Evil Empire supposedly being back moniker.

[–] RandAlThor@lemmy.ca 5 points 5 days ago (2 children)

I watched them beat Bills in Buffalo earlier. They were physical and defense was stifling. I didn't watch this game but it was a tale of 2 halves. Still a close game took a miracle for Bills to win here. They will have some form of home field advantage in playoffs and are in the running for #1 seed in AFC. It's impossible for Bills to win AFCEast.

It's impossible for Bills to win AFCEast.

The Bills still have a chance at that, however slim. I will laugh a big, big belly laugh if the Pats lose the division by losing that last game to the Jets.

[–] RandAlThor@lemmy.ca 3 points 5 days ago

Yeah probabilities are slim though. Pats will need all the wins to try and get #1 seed in AFC. They may still get it because Broncos have a tougher schedule - chiefs, chargers and jags whereas for Pats its ravens, jets and fins.

[–] BanaramaClamcrotch@lemmy.zip 1 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

Tale of two halves because the refs decided to inject themselves in the game and suddenly call everything against the patriots and everything for the bills.

[–] RandAlThor@lemmy.ca 2 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Now you know how it feels to be on the other side of all those Brady calls.

[–] BanaramaClamcrotch@lemmy.zip 1 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Josh Allen wishes he could hold Brady’s jock. But I guess if that’s the trade off— Brady’s 6 rings to Josh Allen’s regular season wins, so be it. I’ll take that deal.

[–] RandAlThor@lemmy.ca 1 points 5 days ago (2 children)

Your bitterness is sweet to Bills' fans ears I'm sure. I haven't seen the game so I can't agree or disagree about the calls but 7 penalties aren't all that much when Bills dominated Pats in the 2nd half. I'm quite sure it wasn't refs who were doing the blocking tackling running and scoring 4 touchdowns for Bills.

[–] dhork@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago

Your bitterness is sweet to Bills' fans ears I'm sure.

Can confirm. My exact words when that particular PI call happened was "Hey, I thought ticky-tack calls like that only happened to us!"

I'll take it though. We have a lot of cosmic karma built up over the years. I will go to my grave insisting that it was the "Music City Forward Lateral". And if the Bills do go to the Super Bowl this year, they better put trackers on everyone's helmets to make sure they don't lose track of where they are.

[–] BanaramaClamcrotch@lemmy.zip 1 points 5 days ago

No, but it was them selectively calling holding calls whenever the patriots got a 3rd down stop. Watch the game, you’ll see

[–] RandAlThor@lemmy.ca 1 points 5 days ago

Yards at half time were 285-76 for Pats. Game ended with 385 to 349 Pats/Bills. So Pats were limited to 100 yards (most of it on one run) in 2nd half while Bills rolled up 273 yards in 2nd half. Literally flipped the script.

I always say I never root for the Chargers unless they're playing the Raiders. And this game I usually root for a tie or like a freak asteroid or sudden tornado something like that. But seeing the Chargers put a knife in the hearts of the Chiefs playoff chances it's pretty freaking attractive I can't lie.

[–] RandAlThor@lemmy.ca 2 points 5 days ago

Wow yeah Chiefs are really in big trouble this year.

[–] njm1314@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago

I never know what Defenders are supposed to do in those situations. You're going to make a tackle and the guy you're about to tackle just drops 2 ft and suddenly your tackle goes from being perfect to being a penalty. What can you do?

Congrats Broncos. Wow. They can get #1 seed by winning out. Tougher road than Pats but possible. Holy cow. Probably the best surprise team of the season.

[–] njm1314@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago

Fuck yeah. Nothing better than actually getting to watch my team on TV and not have to worry about streams.

[–] baggachipz@sh.itjust.works 2 points 5 days ago

Vance can really coach a defense. They really step up when it matters.
