Sky pretty, but I feel sad from what’s happened at Bondi. I was just there yesterday. It’s horrific.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 6 points 2 days ago

so many hugs, it can feel a bit weird when you are that close in space and time, it can feel like luck

more hugs

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 3 points 2 days ago

Oh jeez that’s horrible

[–] SituationCake@aussie.zone 10 points 2 days ago (4 children)

OMG just saw the news about Bondi. Horrifying. I don’t know what to say.

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 8 points 2 days ago

Families out celebrating a holiday. Horrible.

[–] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 8 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Oh, I hadn't seen it. I don't understand how people can ever get to a state where they want to do things like that. I think it's hard to know what to say because the words just don't exist. Horrible and terrible just aren't enough.

[–] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 2 points 2 days ago

Right, I cannot fathom the way hate can manifest in such an awful way.

Xmas dinner went well. We got a bonus and a healthy Westfield giftcard!!!!!

Edit: pretty wild considering I've been there 5 weeks.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 5 points 3 days ago

Awesome. Sounds like a good company to work for. πŸ™‚

A woman in my team was sick all of last week so she missed out on Kris Kringle. My girlfriend got one of those "random scoops" of dice from some fantasy store so we've put together two sets.

I'll bring them both in and try determine her favourite colour from the classic indicators; phone case, nails, drink bottle, and I'll give her the set that closest matches

You know how to pay attention without being a pest 😻

[–] tombruzzo@aussie.zone 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

There are not so subtle ways women express their favourite colour for those willing to look

I don't want the ptv app to plan my trip, I want a pocket database where I can select a route and see the timetable. Boo.

I am apparently on the University of Tasmania 'Roll of Excellence' for my results in the Diploma of Sustainable Living. I did not know such a thing existed and doubt it will have any impact on anything, but I guess it's a nice thing to know.

I got a participation award in yr 2. And a sticker.

[–] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Was it a dinosaur sticker?

[–] Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 5 points 2 days ago

Look at mr fancy over here with his sticker!

Blerg ride on mower is cutting unevenly.

Time to do crash YT courses and pretend to know what I'm doing. Already been serviced twice in 3 months :'(

Hoping it's just tyre pressure. Anything else will be a head scratcher.

I was told in no uncertain terms that we were going outside today. There was banging on the door. I was reluctant, worried that Melbcat could wait for a chance to abscond. I managed to get a cuddle but she was adamant. Eventually my guilt won so after making a cuppa we went out.

spoiler

Not sure why she sooks a bit sometimes when she’s outside. Either a uti is coming back, or maybe it’s her age?

My umbrella sailed away with the wind, I found tomato seedlings among the flowers, and I couldn’t find my spot in the book. Neighbours dog was barking at me in my own damn yard and nutcase neighbour briefly moved around.

Eventually we needed to come back in for the bathroom.

Noticing that people seem to be arseholes to me online more frequently lately, and getting some stronger β€˜drift’ energy off the last few online friends. Even maybe a bit of a funny vibe. And it’s like… ok. I only stuck around for you so guess I know what time it is.🚢

I don’t feel like doing art today but I might anyway this evening. It is a human activity and I have to do something. It just sucks that something that used to be inspiring is now mechanical. Same for reading. Crochet also boring.

I hope I can wrangle my brain back into books because both irl and online suck.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 4 points 2 days ago

I read a book today!

A book about Australiana. I now know what to look for in op shops in country towns. πŸ™‚

I went to swig down the last mouthful of tea, but forgot about the tagless teabag in there and smacked myself in the face with a ginseng teabag πŸ˜†

I made a Basque cheesecake yesterday at the insistence of Miniest and today we just decimated it, there's barely ¼ left 🫣

On Tuesday the power company are shutting off the power for the whole day to do works. I've seen it as an opportunity to clean out the freezer, which has desperately needed it. Too many things in shitty containers and bagged food with pegs on that allowed foods to get freezer burnt in too short a time. Luckily I haven't done Xmas food shopping yet.

smacked myself in the face with a ginseng teabag

Is this what they mean when they say tea is invigorating?

Alright, so RiMusic does not work (offline only it seems). I'm pretty annoyed about this situation I've got to say. Yes, social media is bad for kids, yes some restrictions were probably necessary. Banning music (YouTube Music not though YouTube proper) access on a family managed account is just stupid, heavy handed and smacks of out dated thinking... daaaaaaah What am I supposed to do, double up and pay for Spotify.... As I said, daaaaaaah!

[–] briongloid@aussie.zone 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I used to use RiMusic, would stop working for me as well.

OpenTune has been working for me for a very long time without issues.

Well, surprise surprise... Was feeling shit mentally, went for a run, now feeling less shit mentally.

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 3 points 2 days ago

Earlier I showered and took a walk so quite tired. Probably not much left for art. I really miss my old hobbies of hiking and baking.

Avoiding the news about Bondi, I’ve seen as much as was necessary

Someone at work has been using Chat GPT to create Christmas colouring pages based on photos of people at work. So we are now surrounded by personalised Christmas pictures (which have also been helping to while away the long and boring night shifts!). Highly recommended - would be a great idea for anyone wanting a Christmas day activity for the family too.

Every night my cat sleeps in the human bed and every morning receives breakfast in bed. Now she’s washing herself.

I’m coming back as a loved elderly cat

Annoying neighbours have installed a wind chime. This means war.

Today at the beach I found a piece of a Spartan sample banknote. Oddest find ever, but ever so interesting. First, how did it get on the beach? Spartan is an Australian anti-counterfeit banknote company.

I knew it was a "banknote" but a denomination of 8 is just weird. Tho USSR used to have a 3 ruble note so πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ
