What a fucking easy copout to hand her "will you at least consider looking at the case?"

No dude. Have her commit while you've got fire on her feet. Am I the only person left with common sense

[–] boeman@lemmy.world 104 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Agreed, enough with this archaic sense of decorum. The ruling party has not shown decorum in ages. Blast them, make them answer to their faults.

[–] Whostosay@sh.itjust.works 33 points 3 months ago (5 children)

We really should start going for the throat, especially with Democrats. They keep doing shit like this, we bombard them and let them know the second we can, we're going to primary their asses. It has to stop.

[–] axexrx@lemmy.world 19 points 3 months ago (1 children)

They need to start demanding these people be held, charged etc for bald faced lies to congress.

[–] Whostosay@sh.itjust.works 15 points 3 months ago (3 children)

It's crazy to me that large scale riots haven't already corrected this several times over

[–] EldritchFeminity@lemmy.blahaj.zone 26 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Unfortunately, the powers that be learned from the Civil Rights movement and have spent the decades since defanging any potential power the populace could use against them.

Destroy education. Saddle people with extreme debt. Remove any form of community support and organizational structure. They've had decades of practice. Hell, you could say it started in the Cold War with the attacks on unions and add in companies divesting the cost of retirement onto the employees and their stock portfolios that reinvest their wages right back into the company.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 9 points 3 months ago

Yep. Not a coincidence that unions are all but non-existent these days compared to decades ago

If she looks at the case and frees these people, it's an admission of guilt. If she doesn't do anything, she was made aware of the issue before congress and will look even worse later on.

Oh snap, was this real? Links to video/article?

[–] Warl0k3@lemmy.world 158 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (3 children)

Yep, very real

Predictably it had no effect on Noem.

[–] dalekcaan@feddit.nl 36 points 3 months ago (2 children)

First reaction was to blame him for doing drugs 14 years ago. Disgusting.

I'm surprised they didn't scour social media to find a picture of him in a compromising image to use in referring to him like they do with PoC shot by police.

I have no concrete idea what that means, but thank you I think?

[–] DahGangalang 26 points 3 months ago (5 children)

Primarily commenting how scathing a come back that was. If I was Noem, I'd be too embarrassed to show my face in public for a while.

[–] SacralPlexus@lemmy.world 59 points 3 months ago

The secret ingredient to fascists is no shame.

[–] MehBlah@lemmy.world 20 points 3 months ago

Trash like her have no shame. Its how they can do what they do. They lack shame because they lack empathy.

Careful saying "woof" anywhere in the vicinity of Noem lest she think you're a dog to shoot.

[–] arin@lemmy.world 28 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Nothing has any effect on retarded republicans

[–] Makhno@lemmy.world 22 points 3 months ago (1 children)

retarded republicans

Redundant

Thank you for sharing a link that’s not on Xitter. As much as I dislike youtube, Xitter bothers me even more.

This guy wasn't even the first one I could think of off the top of my head. Obviously, this psycho has no idea what's going on.

[–] Know_not_Scotty_does@lemmy.world 41 points 3 months ago

I'm not willing to give them the benefit of the doubt or allow them to claim ignorance anymore. This is willful and malicious.

[–] jj4211@lemmy.world 8 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

Oh they know, but the strategy is to always say what sounds good and trust in their base to believe them.

"The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command."

This is NOT and will NOT be shown on the news. They are ALL complicit and working for the 1000 billionaires. They all need to go.

[–] some_kind_of_guy@lemmy.world 123 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (2 children)

Not that I don't agree, but It's literally a screenshot of a CNN broadcast

[–] Snowpix@lemmy.ca 17 points 3 months ago (6 children)

Plus it's on the MeidasTouch Network. You can always rely on them to expose every little fuckup the regime makes even if corpo news won't.

When Trumps officials are out of office. I call game on. Have at it. Get your retribution. Get out the whip cream pies. And pie these people everywhere they go.

[–] Alloi@lemmy.world 26 points 3 months ago (11 children)

i think we should torture and kill them, but thats just me wanting them to experience what they have done to thousands of people with the intent to do it to millions more.

[–] Kalothar@lemmy.ca 15 points 3 months ago (3 children)

I don’t think we should kill them, we should imprison, even punish with emphasis rehabilitation, but we cannot just extinct this threat through more violence.

We can only destroy this behavior by ingraining its unacceptability throughout our cultures. Why it’s wrong to think this way or do this thing.

Otherwise we are just killing peoples relatives that will then turn around and say we killed so and so to them and this group is evil for X and Y.

[–] Coldcell@sh.itjust.works 8 points 3 months ago

Heads on spikes is an historic example of projecting unacceptability.

I hear that and understand the feelings. I just think these people would have breakdowns if people started pieing them like we did in the 90’s. They can’t take that kind of dent to their ego

[–] tacosanonymous@mander.xyz 18 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Fine. You can pie them before we send them to the black site.

[–] FordBeeblebrox@lemmy.world 13 points 3 months ago (2 children)

Can you waterboard someone with a pie?

[–] tacosanonymous@mander.xyz 20 points 3 months ago

I’m not sure but I like your willingness to compromise.

[–] Johnmannesca@lemmy.world 8 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Sounds unapologetically american, so why not?

Oh my sweet summer child. That's not how authoritarianism works.

They will do everything in order to remain in power. And as 2025 has already shown, there is no one to stop them. The only condition they will step out of the power is a guarantee that the successor will preserve everything they've got during the reign.

Lesson learned. Now they'll strip people of their American citizenship before deporting them to a random country.

[–] Rivalarrival@lemmy.today 20 points 3 months ago (4 children)

You don't actually have to be a citizen to join the US military. Permanent Residents (Green Card holders) are eligible to serve. They are also required to register for Selective Service and can be drafted.

Gottem! Democracy is saved because you had a snappy comeback to the people that feel no shame for being scum-sucking troglodytes.

Is Mr Park allowed to return home yet? Or are we using veterans to score moral points against the devil?

[–] SpaceCowboy@lemmy.ca 22 points 3 months ago (7 children)

What do you want them to do? They are journalists, they can only show you that these people are horrible.

It's up to the citizens of their country to drop whatever bullshit reasons they have for not acting like adults and voting to prevent these kinds of people from getting power. Even if that means voting for a different party than your parents. Even if that means voting for whatever your perfect paragon of a politician is supposed to be. Even if that means you're not taking whatever "principled" stand some internet bullshit has convinced you is important. Even if that means admitting you were wrong for voting for these assholes or not voting at all in previous elections.

It's not the journalists that put these people into power, it's apathy that got them there. Showing people like Kristi Noem they are horrible isn't going to change them, but it might make the average citizen realize that maybe they need to stop sitting around blaming others for how bad things are and actually get past their own bullshit and put a stop to it.
