When trying to find weed living in another country, asked a mate if they smoked while they were smoking a cigarette.

It was understood. Turns out he sells it too

[–] TomArrr@lemmy.world 3 points 21 hours ago

Or, he assumed you just had smoked? ;

[–] Lemminary@lemmy.world 5 points 16 hours ago

Every. Single. Time.

[–] Puavo@lemmy.world 2 points 14 hours ago

I smoke cigarettes. I like it.

[–] 5in1k@lemmy.zip 51 points 1 day ago (4 children)

I don’t beat around the bush, they’re my doctor not the cops.

Yeah doc I consume marijuana in various forms and occasionally do mushrooms. They don’t even blink.

[–] Gigasser@lemmy.world 3 points 14 hours ago

I mean...insurance companies man be careful. Unless you don't live in burgerland.

[–] Whirling_Cloudburst@lemmy.world 9 points 20 hours ago

Does your doctor's office use AI? If so, that may end up being shared one day even if it is illegal to do so.

[–] Rusty@lemmy.ca 8 points 20 hours ago

I told my doctor and he didn't care, maybe it's because weed is legal in Canada.

[–] vga@sopuli.xyz 20 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

I would never tell my doctor. But perhaps that's just Finland. We get a permanent mark in the record if you mention it, and especially if at some in your life you need to services of a psychologist, that's gonna come back to haunt you.

[–] 5in1k@lemmy.zip 20 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I don’t think it’s like that here. That’s fucked up though. Weed is legal here and mushrooms are almost legal it seems so it might not be as big a big deal.

[–] Anivia@feddit.org 11 points 20 hours ago* (last edited 16 hours ago)

It's a bad idea in the US as well. It will be on your medical record and if you ever need prescription opiates or benzos in the future you will get them refused for potential "drug seeking behavior"

You should only disclose drug use to your doctor when it's necessary, like if you are going under anesthesia. And if it's not an emergency procedure you should just stay sober long enough beforehand that you won't need to disclose it

When I was in Jamaica, one of the tour guides pointed out the (former, I think?) house of a celebrity. Apparently, you always knew when the celebrity was in town because, quote, "you could smell them smoking."

When he said this, I sincerely thought the guide meant smoking meat until I made a comment about that and everyone started laughing at me.

He has some weird obsession with bbq sauce too. What’s the deal with that? Does he think that is what the humans do?

[–] EtherWhack@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I think it's more that he likes adding it as an Easter egg in his videoes.

(I know it's yet to be confirmed that he is but ND people can sometimes get stay with a joke way past the point of it being funny anymore)

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 2 points 15 hours ago

Omg you just explained snl to me

[–] Soggy@lemmy.world 4 points 20 hours ago

No billionaire is neurotypical, hoarding wealth on that level is abnormal.

[–] dumbass@piefed.social 3 points 23 hours ago

I just think he loves saying the name, Sweet Baby Ray's, it's kinda fun to say.

[–] village604@adultswim.fan 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Some people legitimately do have obsessions with specific sauces. Hot sauce is definitely one, but bbq isn't far off.

It is not, but I am amused that - even with all that money - he still went with cheap folding chairs.

[–] tempest@lemmy.ca 33 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Bold of you to assume this isn't just some Studio set he used for the moment to be one of the folks

[–] toynbee@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago

That's a valid point.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 21 points 1 day ago (7 children)

You can still see the creases in the fabric. Literally never been sat in before, and probably went directly into the garbage afterwards

Uhm, those are $1600 Gucci Seats de la Foulde 💅

[–] ameancow@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Look at that "yard." Weird old cheap red-stained lumber behind a "rustic" fence that doesn't even reach the bare, dirt ground, a bare concrete slab, folding chairs just unwrapped with factory wrinkles, cables laying on the ground like a stagehand set it up, and absolutely no personal touches other than the smoker and barbecue.

This was obviously staged in some lot or ally behind the Meta Factory or wherever the fuck Zuck incubates and "smokes meat."

I think it's more taboo to smoke cigarettes here in Vancouver.

[–] Anivia@feddit.org 5 points 16 hours ago

Well, that's a rational behavior. Tobacco is significantly more unhealthy and addictive. It's also much more harmful for passive smokers

[–] funksoulkitchen@lemmy.zip 5 points 21 hours ago

It's been that way there for the past 20 years, at least in certain demographics

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 35 points 1 day ago (3 children)

What if the guy smokes crack?

[–] tempest@lemmy.ca 10 points 1 day ago (5 children)

The check doesn't say "doesn't smoke crack" just definitely smokes weed.

I feel like anyone who has made their way to crack has stopped to smoke a joint on the way

does anybody know whether weed smoke has the same bad health effects on your lungs as cigarettes?

i assume yes if the dose of smoke is the same, since it's the smoke that's acid and not the nicotine.

[–] aesthelete@lemmy.world 12 points 21 hours ago* (last edited 21 hours ago) (2 children)

Yes it has around the same health effects if you smoke it in equal quantity. I think tobacco is a little worse because of some unique compounds or something that are generated, but ultimately smoke is pretty bad for you.

The thing with weed is that the quantity is often way lower, so practically speaking is often not as bad.

[–] thetrekkersparky@startrek.website 13 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

I don't know about other people, but I can barely smoke a whole joint in one sitting in a day. My wife on the other hand can smoke half a pack of cigarettes a day. I don't really know many other people that smoke weed though. I actually smoke less now that I ran out of my home grown stuff I grew last year. The commercial stuff in Canada is way too strong for me.

[–] Lemminary@lemmy.world 5 points 16 hours ago* (last edited 16 hours ago)

It's definitely a lot less smoke with weed. I have a few friends who smoke, and when we smoke together, we'll light up a joint that'll last for a while because we only take three to four hits each, and then we're set. Or when I smoke alone, a whole ounce will last me an entire month, even if I'm smoking all day, every day. That's equivalent to two packs of cigarettes (assuming 18 grams/pack) PER MONTH of weed.

The main thing people should be wary of is holding it in for way longer than necessary.

I have had this conversation with docs before and it went surprisingly boringly. They're like, well, do try to get sober, see you in 6 months or when you die.

(4 years clean this past October)

[–] Crazyslinkz@lemmy.world 13 points 1 day ago

"I don't smoke tobacco."
