  • Brush: Wolf Whiskers - "Gianmaria" w/Maggard 26mm Synthetic
  • Razor: Joseph Rogers & Sons Near Wedge (4)
  • Lather: Chiseled Face - Ghost Town Barber - Soap
  • Post Shave: Chatillon Lux - Lamplight Penance - Toner
  • Post Shave: Nivea - Sensitive - Balm

Quite nice. The razor felt great - nice and gentle. I could have done with some cleanup on my lower jaw/upper neck area (what is that area called? Chin fat?), but it's still decently close there.

Lamplight Penance is great. It's a thick scent.

  • Brush: Chisel & Hound Classic 26mm V23 Fanchurian
  • Razor: Ever Ready Streamline
  • Blade: Personna Gem PTFE (5)
  • Lather: The Cajun Blade - Neutral Ground - Soap
  • Toner: Thayers - Coconut - Toner
  • Aftershave: The Cajun Blade - Neutral Ground Aftersauce - Aftershave

2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.

This was my first use of Neutral Ground. I love the scent off the puck and thought the new F1 Braford Base was a nice adjustment to the previous F1 Brangus base.

This was my second use of the Streamline (on loan to me by @walden@wetshav.ing), and I still want one. This time around, I did not feel much difference between this razor and my Micromatic Open Comb razor (used yesterday). Used correctly, both razors are comfortable, provided excellent blade feel, and produce a great shave.

I've been sick for the last two days, and gasp I skipped a shave yesterday. Like a hobo. The Affluent Alces washed the shame of me, and the Frio 14 with the refreshed edge is ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿณ๐Ÿ˜˜

Was this the first time in years that your daily streak ended? I wouldn't worry too much. You're sick and it's best to put your main focus on recovery instead of fancy shaves. Get well soon โœŒ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ€

[โ€“] djundjila@sub.wetshaving.social 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Thanks! Yeah, this was the first time since February 2021, i think ๐Ÿ˜…

[โ€“] DaveWave94@wetshav.ing 2 points 1 week ago

No worries DJ. If you're sick at home, nobody was bothered by your unshaved self but you ๐Ÿ˜‰

[โ€“] walden@wetshav.ing 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Get well soon! My wife has the flu right now and I'm patiently awaiting my turn.

Adventus Day 6

Todays satchel was filled with a variety. This is the gift that keeps on givin'!

Today's lather is Signature Soaps Novus Spice. To my nose, this scent is Old Spice and orange juice ... pretty refreshing. The soap is super soft, so I started out like I would with Noble Otter, restricting water. This wasn't necessary. It took a good bit of water and I ended up with lots of shiny, fluffy lather.

I used Southern Witchcrafts Valley of Ashes aftershave. It's an interesting scent and witch hazel based.

Other goodies for today:

  • Stirling Soap Co. - Maggard's Meetup 2025 AS
  • Chiseled Face Groomatorium - Ghost Town Barber AS
  • Captain's Choice - Bay Rum AS
  • House of Mammoth - Alive soap
  • House of Mammoth - Beloved

Have a good day!

  • brush: Kruidvat brush
  • razor: Merx & Co. Solingen-Wald Gamerx 5/8
  • lather: De Vergulde Hand Origineel
  • post shave: Kruidvat Aftershave Balm Sensitive

Pretty regular shave. Tried my left hand a bit more and it went quite decently. Not as good as my right hand yet of course.

My Koraat was getting dull and I honed it on my Shapton 0.85 micron stone and looked at it with magnifying glass. The whole edge looked shiny expect the very apex where it looked dark. I have seen this earlier. I thought I was not hitting the apex but now I thought maybe it's a burr. So I stropped it on fine paste but with the spine a little bit up, very light pressure. The apex seems much shinier. I then stropped it normally on paste and on plain leather and now it does do the hanging hair test which it didn't before. So I think I'm an idiot that has been shaving with a razor with a burr ๐Ÿ˜…. I'm not getting a burr on my other razor when I hone. I'll see next shave how the new edge feels. I also tightened the scales on the Koraat with a small hammer and anvil. It's much easier to strop the thing when the handle doesn't fly around every time you turn around on the strop. Also should have done that a bit earlier ๐Ÿ˜….

My Koraat does the same thing. It's floppy during the first 20-30 degrees when you open it, and gets a bit better when it's fully open. That's a good reminder, actually... I'm headed to the hardware store for something unrelated, but I'll add a ball-peen hammer to my list.

Interesting, I thought it was just mine. Mine was still floppy when open but it gets better as I open it indeed.

Rare GEM - 11. Dezember 2025

  • Prep: Aloe Vera Gel
  • Brush: Omega Roma Colossea 31 mm
  • Razor: GEM Micromatic Bullet Tip/Flying Wing
  • Blade: GEM PTFE
  • Lather: HAGS - Aftermath (Vegan base)
  • Post Shave: Zingari Man - The Master

1 pass on the head as well as one each for neckline and cheek lines. A bit of a rough shave yet again, don't know how old this blade is.

One of my few rare GEM SE razor shaves. Especially with this gold-plated razor, it's probably getting the fewest uses out of the bunch. Unfortunately the head shave wasn't so nice, I thought one day off would allow my skin to heal, but nope. It scraped up a few of the old weepers. Thankfully, only a bit - so no alum block was required. The end result was rather close, but less comfortable. Same for my neck. Btw, by reading neckline and cheek lines you can probably guess that the henriquatre is no more. Actually, for a few days already. I simply obsessed too much about perfect straight lines and my short stubble allows me to appreciate imperfections much better. It's still kinda hard for my inner perfectionist, but hey, I rocked a job interview like this.

Speaking of the job interview, it went well. Really interesting workplace and they'd hire me on January 1st if everything fits. I have an appointment for a "hospitation day" next Tuesday, to see if I can get along with this kind of work and the potential colleagues of this station. So far, so good. The Monday before is yet another job interview, so I actually have two places to compare. I'll try to leave my best impression so that ideally, both places would want to hire me and it's up to my decision what I choose.

Great to hear things went well. SOunds like you got a good plan moving forward!

  • Brush: Rad Dinosaur Creations "Stardust" - TurnNShave 26mm Shoat
  • Razor: Blackland Sabre
  • Blade: Accuforge GEM Microcoat (4)
  • Lather: Stirling - 6ix 7even - Soap
  • Post Shave: Stirling - 6ix 7even - Aftershave
  • Post Shave: Oleo & Co. - Facial Toner - Toner
  • Fragrance: Stirling - 6ix 7even - EdT

Love the scent, but it gave me a hint of frag burn. Will probably move it along, unfortunately.

[โ€“] walden@wetshav.ing 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

On a scale of 1-10 how bad would you say it burned? Maybe a 6-7?

[โ€“] snooting@wetshav.ing 2 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Around a 4 Iโ€™d say, and mostly just in the splash.

Not terrible, but Iโ€™m making a conscious effort to not hold onto stuff that my skin is obviously sensitive to.

[โ€“] walden@wetshav.ing 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

So, maybe on a scale of 0 to 16 it'd be 6-7?

[โ€“] snooting@wetshav.ing 2 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

A: I just now got the joke

B: my wife says nice dad joke

C: yeah that sounds about right. We should rate more things on a hexadecimal scale

[โ€“] walden@wetshav.ing 1 points 1 week ago

It's ok. I'm only familiar with the pop-culture reference because South Park did an episode about it.
