Not sure yet, a lot of subs haven't set up on Lemmy yet. Hoping that'll change after the blackout next week.

I'm exploring my options.

As long as old.reddit exists and there is a large community, I'll be 'stuck' with Reddit. I'm not there for the platform - I'm there for the people. I'll go where the people go.

As far as mobile usage goes, I don't know. Without an 'Apollo for Lemmy' or 'Lemmy is Fun' - I'm hanging around waiting for something to happen.

Reddit is the longest I've had a social media account after Facebook - pushing my 12th year. And I've participated in a lot of social media and message boards that came and went.

In my experience, websites sites die quickly when leadership prioritizes scraping profits over a user experience. And look, I completely understand and respect that companies need to earn revenue. However, it's a two-way relationship. Users will always flock to a more streamlined and accessible experience.

It's why Pandora > Shoutcast/iTunes Radio. It's why Spotify > Pandora. And it's why Netflix > Blockbuster. It's why after years of using Fark.com for news engagement, I joined Reddit. It gave me a far superior experience (not that Fark was ever bad).

I really like Lemmy. And I like the concept of federated spaces. But whether or not the concept is a big enough draw is really to be determined - especially without knowing what the mobile experience looks like.

All this to say.. I'll delete my account when it's no longer relevant. If I can get truly unique food and drink recommendations for my local city here, with enthusiastic participants all joining in the conversation - that's what I'll need to bury the past 12 years of online activity.

Yup. Deleted my 10 year old account yesterday.

I just pulled the plug and deleted my account but to be honest, I was mostly a lurker who mostly upvoted (or downvoted on occasions!) posts over there.

Haven't gone scorched earth yet. Don't think I will, but I'll think twice before going back on the site. There's some things that are valuable, and I'll wait and see if they even stay valuable.

I'm trying to make up my mind because a lot of my favourite subreddits are on there, especially the circlejerk ones because they're my humour fuels.

Couple of weeks ago I got permanently suspended from reddit. I've been a user for 11 years, they suspended my 11 year old account.

Why? Here's why.

It was in worldnews sub, you probably will remember the video where a cop kills a guy who's threatening others to commit suicide.

All I said was this:

"Sir you cannot kill yourself, that's our job"

BAM. Permanently banned for threatening and spreading violence. It's unbelievable. Mods think they're gods, so do admins. Fuck reddit ,I hope they collapse like WTT building.

I've wiped my author account and main account.

But I won't delete the accounts because fuck them, they don't get to recycle those. I could delete the account under this name, because it was just my alt for moderating, and it's such an inside joke that only maybe five people would get that it isn't worth deleting.

Are you guys seeing the trainwreck in this AMA?

I'm out. Nixed mine. Honestly I was never a huge power user so it's not too big a loss.

I've deleted everything I posted/comment and my account yesterday. Granted Ive had already done this a couple years ago so this account wasn't that valuable.

I didn't delete it but I stop using it for now. I will hold for a few months to see how things develop and decide what to do next. I use Reddit mostly due to Developer communities (Android, Kotlin, etc) which doesn't seem to exist in Lemmy, yet.

I hope the communities migrate here with time but overall, I'm finding the servers a little confusing and the Android app has space to improve.

I'm waiting on a data request for the rest of my history, though I did that 6mo ago for other reasons and still have it so if the delay is too long I'll just lose those months.

After that I'll probably keep my account for a while to spam about Lemmy until I get banned.

I was going to keep it around for hardwareswap but now they have closed shop. Guess I don't need it anymore?

Not yet. I want to watch and participate in the absolute chaos happening. It's a train wreck, great entertainment.

But as soon as the API key is revoked I'm gone. Well I already spend more time here.

I'm not deleting, just abandoning. I had another person step up to mod the only community I was modding.

I'm going to leave the account, delete most of the old content and switch to posting links back to fediverse. Likely automated.

After the AMA yesterday, I made the decision to delete all of my posts and comments. I'm not sure I see a reason todeletee my account altogether as I think not giving traffic to Reddit is more important, so I left everything else the way it is. Maybe one of these days I'll go back through and delete everything for good.

All that said, like most other people here, I have no intention of going back, especially after yesterday, unless there's some sort of drastic change which is very unlikely.

I'm holding out with some copium for now. There's some local subs and niche subs that I'd like to still follow that will likely not migrate. I'll likely switch to RSS and old.reddit only once RIF dies and Lemmy and mastodon will likely be my mobile social media. I don't mind using multiple social media apps, but it'd be great to have it all in one place.
