Why start your own marriage when you can become a minority stakeholder by investing in mine? Minimize risk and maximize reward, dummy. It's basic economics.

in a capitalist hellscape without a safety net, i get considering a marriage through a lens as if it were a merger of assets and liabilities, but let's not pretend that is a romantic impulse. it is literally the practical and therefore not-romantic side of a marriage.

stg, every time i have seen economic abuse, it's because the abuser tries to make financial considerations out to be or need-to-be more romantic.
