December 9, 2025 -- Thé for Tuesday

  • Brush: Chisel & Hound Classic 26mm V23 Fanchurian
  • Razor: Ever Ready Streamline
  • Blade: Personna Gem PTFE (3)
  • Lather: Noble Otter - Thé Noir et Vanille - Soap
  • Toner: Thayers - Coconut - Toner
  • Aftershave: Noble Otter - Thé Noir et Vanille - Aftershave
  • Fragrance: Noble Otter - Thé Noir et Vanille - Eau de Parfum
  • Talc: Yardley Gold

2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.

Today's shave was a full-on luxury shave that seemed only fitting for this Streamline razor. Wow! This thing is gorgeous! Thanks very much to @walden@sub.wetshaving.social for letting me try his. Now I want one. There is a ton of blade feel with this razor and I found myself treating it in exactly the same way that I treat a straight. This approach paid off and I got a very comfortable, close, shave.

The greatness of TNeV is already well known. There's little I can add, other than the EdP comes across as a little more nuanced than the soap and splash, as you might expect.

Tue 09 Dec 2025

  • Brush: Semogue Owner's Club (cherry wood and boar)
  • Razor: Zwilling J. A. Henckels Friodur 14 (8/8", extra hollow ground, stainless steel)
  • Lather: Catie's Bubbles – Crangère
  • Post Shave: Catie's Bubbles – Blugère

I have many very nice razors, but the Frio 14 holds a special place. Such a gentle thing. And shockingly practical (by straight razor standards)

Definitely practical. When possible, I travel with my Frio 472. I carry a travel strop but don’t really need it, and I don’t worry about the razor rusting.

  • Brush: Stirling Soap Co. 24mm Synthetic
  • Blade: Personna White Handle Disposable (1)
  • Lather: Barrister and Mann - Leviathan - Soap
  • Post Shave: Brut - Brut - Splash On

First try with one of these disposable razors available through Kodiak Shaving.

Initial impression? I'm going to like having them as an option for when I'm traveling for work.

Razors of this style tend to be overly mild sometimes, but this one has decent blade feel and with some buffing gives a nice close shave.

December 9th, 2025

  • Brush: Declaration Grooming - "Blood of Kings" Jefferson B14 28mm Badger
  • Razor: Atelier Durdan Horizon
  • Blade: Schick Proline (3)
  • Lather: Barrister and Mann - Spice - Soap
  • Post Shave: Barrister and Mann - Reserve Spice - Aftershave
  • Post Shave: Oleo & Co. - Facial Toner - Toner
  • Fragrance: GLHF Workshop - Polyphemus - EdT

I dropped the Horizon down to setting 1 this morning, which is the mildest setting. This gives it pretty negative blade exposure, and necessitated a steeper angle with the razor to get a good shave.

Very comfortable shave though once the angle was right. It was a definite decrease in efficiency, but the result is still a very close shave.

Adventus Day 4

Today, I got a sample of MERShaving Old Timer Spice with a duck fat base. It was quick to lather and turned out pretty slick. The scent was big and nice. Definitely spicy. Strength was probably 6/10 and is sticking with me so far this morning.

I got a collection of aftershave samples (Fine Italian Citrus, Floïd, and Clubman Pinaud) and a couple of boxes of blades (Rapira Platinum Lux [RU], Gillette 7 O'Clock Super Stainless).

Coincidentally, Stirling Soap threw in a bar of their Stirling Spice bath soap with my Black Friday order. Now I'm prepared for the transformation into Darth Spice in the last week of this calendar. :)

Have a good day!

9. Dezember 2025

  • Brush: Omega Roma Colossea 31 mm
  • Razor: RazoRock Cyber Medium w/ Superknurl handle
  • Blade: BIC Chrome Platinum
  • Lather: Noble Otter - Ace
  • Post Shave: Zingari Man - The Master; Lavera Mikrosilber Akut cream
  • Alum: Osma alum block

2 passes on the head, 1 on the neck. Rough shave, a couple of weepers on my head.

Another late shave since I have a job interview at 10 tomorrow. Unfortunately not my best shave with this setup - used a fresh BIC Chrome Platinum and they're constantly biting me when they're new. The shave itself didn't feel uncomfortable, but I knew I was in for a hard time when I saw blood in the lather. Thankfully I still had my alum block around and the ZM recovery splash took care of the rest together with the Lavera cream.

Maybe my shaky hands contributed to this mediocre shave too, I am really nervous about tomorrow. It's a very fancy hospital in the Thuringian forest with a high reputation. They were rather fast to get back to me and I am quite interested about what they offer for my future career. No final decisions tomorrow, but I am indeed on edge because if they'd want me, it's a very good sign.

Have a nice day/evening/night ✌🏻
