This just popped up in my feed & drew me to a new community, so thanks! The device looks cool, nice way to advertise & give something back at the same time (I mean that genuinely).
Like another poster has said, as I’m new here please count me out of the draw. But I am a cable hoarder! Less so these days, as there’s less variety of cables & connectors needed (which is a good thing!) but I still have crates & crates of old cables of various types, from countless dj & music gigs to computers & electronics related ones.
Not sure I can think of any specific odd ones. My god father who was an IT uni professor back in the 70s-90s gave me many quirky old devices the uni were chucking towards the end of his career, some of those required pretty funky & unique cables, mostly beige with fairly large 5-20 pin connectors of all shapes & sizes required. I probably still have a few stashed in the attic for no reason at all.
My favourite random connector (& somewhat odd) is probably the ‘Neutrik Speakon’, that thing was so chunky & practical with an awesome but simple twist locking mechanism. I used to wish other cables used a smaller version, but it was probably proprietary & patented so the world lost out…
