Take a baseball bat to that piece of shit and stop buying terrible "smart" appliances. I know in some cases it's getting quite hard (fucking TVs) but for a fridge? Come on now.

If I'm not getting paid for the advertisements on my property then you are essentially stealing from me

My personal take is that if I'm forced to see ads like this, I'm boycotting the company.

To be fair I use a lot of ad blocking so if I see ads they're trying extra hard.

I wouldn't download a smart fridge tho'

If I were dumb enough to own one of these pieces of shit, that screen would see constant need for repair under warranty.

"Sorry, the darned thing fractured spontaneously again. Seems to happen every time something I paid for shows me an unsolicited advertisement. I guess the fact the some dickhead would do that to their customers shocked me so much that I tripped and hit the screen with my fist by accident. As it made my knuckles bleed, I'll have to sue you pricks for damages."

I'm guessing that if you set your DNS to AdGuard a lot of this nonsense would go away.

Another alternative is to remove the internet access from your fridge.

I wonder if they say that invalidates the warranty.

I look forward to our future where these companies incentivize landlords with a slice of the pie to install ad laden versions of every appliance. What a utopia we live in!

The "incentive" will be selling the appliances for cheaper. Amazon was/has been doing this with Kindle readers: you can get it cheaper in exchange for ads on the lock screen.

That's true, but in my experience, people that have landlords and people buying their own major appliances are two demographics that don't overlap.

Difficult to tell if this is a creative writing exercise or not.
