We want to keep the quality of posts high. Therefore, memes, funny videos, low-effort posts and reposts are not allowed. We prohibit giveaways because we cannot be sure that the person holding the giveaway will actually do what they promise.
5. Mark Spoilers and NSFW
Make sure to mark your stuff or it may be removed.
No one wants to be spoiled. Therefore, always mark spoilers. Similarly mark NSFW, in case anyone is browsing in a public space or at work.
6. No linking to piracy
Don't share it here, there are other places to find it. Discussion of piracy is fine.
We don't want us moderators or the admins of lemmy.world to get in trouble for linking to piracy. Therefore, any link to piracy will be removed. Discussion of it is of course allowed.

Boy EA really hit rock bottom and just kept on a-diggin til they struck oil didn't they.
The buyout has effectively already gone through, and as the price has been decided, any money you give to them is directly going to saudi arabia, as they will get that new value.
Effectively all it? That's 93.4%, that's more than 90%, and almost 95%, which is almost 100%, which would be all of it!

They are saying it’s redundant, and therefore unnecessary.
Yeah but it isn’t really redundant (even if it could have been worded better). Someone might believe that the other shareholders have some say in how the company operates when they won’t.
So, as far as control over the company is concerned, the Saudis have 100% control even though they don’t have 100% of the shares.

Respawn - Alex legends, Titanfall (ex call of duty developers)
Codemasters - lots of racing games
Long time partnered Sims creators have been collectively bailing and denouncing the take over. It's warmed my cold dead heart a bit.

I deleted my account, intentionally losing access to all my games. Fuck EA. I will not be associated with murders.
EA (Respawn) peaked at Titanfall 2 and hasn't released anything good since. I set them to Ignore on Steam a few years ago.
Jedi Fallen Order was good though (also Respawn).
Yeah Respawn is a good dev, just a shame they got bought by EA and scrapped Titanfall 3.
And even then they massively fucked up by ignoring all the ddosing for years. It gave us Northstar but it's a paid fucking game, come on man.

Yes, they've been buying up smaller studios for decades and shutting them down.
There's an entire wikipedia page about it.
The only EA franchise I've cared about in the last 15 years was Mirrors Edge. Would love another but I've long given up hope on that.

Not a loss for me. I liked them when they were still good, on C64 and Amiga. But now? Good riddance. May the sheiks have fun with it.
i'm less worried about me not buying their games and more worried about the folks who buy madden every year even though the last interesting release was 08
