Women only trans inclusive This is an inclusive community for all things women. Whether you're here for make up tips, feminism or just friendly chit chat, we've got you covered.

Rules…

  1. Women only… trans women are women, and transphobic or gender critical talk isn’t allowed. Anyone under the trans umbrella (e.g. non-binary, bigender, agender) is free to decide whether a women's community is a good fit for them.
  2. Don’t be a dick. No personal attacks, no aggression, play nice.
  3. Don’t hate on groups, hatefilled talk about groups is not allowed. Ever.
  4. No governmental politics, so no talk of Trump actions etc. We recommend Feminism@beehaw.org for that, but here is an escape from it.
  5. New accounts or users with few comments may have their posts removed to prevent spam and bad-faith participation.

Respecting women is the hottest shit ever

No, that's still regicide, but it's up there.

This squicks me out a bit. It paints the desirable outcome as masculine and misogyny being solely the purview of men.

I took it as an affirmation that being a feminist doesn’t make you less of a man. Instead of phrasing it as a double negative “it’s not unmanly to call out misogyny…” they went with the simpler but potentially misleading phrasing in the screenshot.

Yeah, I think perhaps I'm taking a less charitable view of the phrasing than I could. I just tend to bristle a bit at what feels like gender proscriptive phrasing. "Stand against mysogny, even if nobody is watching." would be more inclusive.

Your criticism is completely reasonable, if the author didn’t meant to be proscriptive a change in wording would help them get their message across. As it is, there’s a lot of room for interpretation!

Yeah, I'm not a fan either. Turning the mechanism of toxic masculinity towards a good cause doesn't make the mechanism good, and risks reinforcing the mechanism. Standing up against misogyny is something that all people should do regardless of gender.

Well assuming no non binary people because OOP is too basic to comprehend them; it's not like women can accurately call that shit out when we're not looking.

Edit: except gender flipped zatoichi. Obviously.

I agree with the message that men should call out misogyny when women are not present, just not with the delivery which preys upon and perpetuates insecurities that men have about their masculinity. They are valid in their masculinity whether or not they are a good person, and being a good person should be the motivation, not insecurity.

Okay but if you're not preying on insecurities you're just bad at gender. Had you considered this?

Uncomfy feeling.

It’s completely ok to shoot misogynistic pricks

[–] cassandrafatigue@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Uh, the fucking environment? Dont eat at a shooting range.

[–] mauuumauukittycat@piefed.blahaj.zone 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

ah, sorry, didn’t know lead bullets were bad for the environment

[–] cassandrafatigue@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

They re made of fucking lead! They break on impact! You shoot them out of a gun, literally blowing them up to use them! Do you think that doesnt leave waste? What the fuck do you think 'gunshot residue' is made of!?¹

Think before you do ²mass murder in an environmentally irresponsible way!

¹actually a bunch of stuff, some probably way worse than lead. Also lead.

²entirely justified and cool

sorry 4 being a dumbass 😭
