That nickname makes no sense. Popeye has tiny biceps and huge forearms.

[–] Hayduke@lemmy.world 29 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

It doesn’t, but “Popeye the Failure Man” produced a sensible chuckle.

He is 100% not a bodybuilder. Wtf is with this article.

Skinny loser with no drive to do the work.

It is the NY Post, which is easily one of the worst papers quality-wise. Excluding obvious propaganda rags, although NYP has no shortage of that either.

Agreed lol. I just watched a documentary that had this very round pudgy guy that the UK narrator described as a “bodybuilder “. Maybe it means something different over seas…😂

he’s building his body, he’s just not using muscles

unfortunately the building is not up to code

Was it a bodybuilder or a strongman? Lots of the WSM types look legit fat, but are just massive under it all, they don't care about what they look like just how much they can lift.

[–] Captainautism@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 3 weeks ago

Oh, no it was neither. I love strongman and know what you mean.

Tummy stretches.

And even if it didn't turn out this bad, his "after" pictures all looked dumb af. It doesn't even look close to real and actually make him weaker because he has to move extra useless weight.

And the funniest part (assuming he's straight) might be that even if it worked out for him and it looked like he had massive muscles, beyond a certain point, it's more impressive to other guys and a turn off for most women.

Ah jokes aside, the body dismorphia is sad.

Do not inject synthol, that is not the key to being happy with your body

At least he won't die like a dog in a ditch in Ukraine...

Popeye's arms were inflated in his forearms, not his biceps. o.O
