Neat. It'll be interesting to see the data they publish in 6 months and how much better the efficiency can be with two functional sails.

a two-week crossing from Saint-Nazaire to Baltimore on Neoline costs €3,200 (£2,800).

That seems crazy. That works out to £200 per day, on a cargo ship.

I really want these to take off. Container shipping is cost efficient but it really seems like an obvious, if complicated solution to drive costs and emissions lower.

but it carries 1000 tons of cargo. Ships with that capacity (fully cellular container ships, but not Panamax cost millions per year to run - five figures daily. There is real potential here.

That’s for a passenger ticket, not for a container. Just seems high for what I imagine is going to be a non-luxury cruise.

I've wondered if this would be feasible... it's very cool to see someone actually doing it. Hopefully in time the kinks will get worked out and it can actually become competitive.
