Tue 18 Nov 2025

  • Brush: Simpson Chubby 2 Manchurian
  • Razor: Filarmónica 14 Doble Temple (8/8", extra full hollow, carbon steel)
  • Lather: Spearhead Shaving Company – Seaforth! Spiced
  • Post Shave: Spearhead Shaving Company – Seaforth! Spiced
  • Fragrance: Spearhead Shaving Company – Seaforth! Spiced

Once @PorkButtsNTaters666@sub.wetshaving.social mentioned Samichlaus soap, the choice for today's trickhole was set. Mandarines and gingerbread spices make Spiced an instant trigger for childhood memories of the little Samichlaus bags filled with … mandarines and gingerbread that kids around here get around December 6th. Just missing notes of jute and peanuts to be a full replica.

Great shave this morning with super quick, wet and slick lather. The 20.1 base was really good!

It's interesting that you find it gingerbready - I get kind of a very synthetic (not in a good sense) candy vibe off Spiced. And I say this as someone who generally likes synthetic candy aromas.

[–] djundjila@sub.wetshaving.social 2 points 1 month ago

Yeah, Spiced is divisive. To u/Semaj300,0, it famously smells like sun lotion 🤷‍♂️

I'll just jave to add a gingerbread to the Barbarossa to explain what I mean 😅

  • Brush: Zenith B15 (506 U/L) 27.5mm Boar

  • Razor: Geneva Cutlery Co. 6/8" Hollow Ground Round Point

  • Lather: Noble Otter - Monarch - Soap

  • Toner: Thayers - Cucumber - Toner

  • Aftershave: Noble Otter - Monarch - Aftershave

3 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.

I tend to overlook Monarch. I shouldn't though since I know it mix lavender with cognac, coffee, sandlewood, and other notes that has a calming effect each time I use it.

Octidi 28 Brumaire an 234 de la Révolution, jour de Coing

Somehow, I got the idea of using a rose-scented soap today. I don't have the matching aftershave, so I wondered: roses are flowers, which aftershave is floral? Yes, Tabac. I was apprehensive of the result, but it doesn't match too badly. However, it doesn't leave much of the more delicate rose-scent lingering around.

Have a good night!

Hah! I think maybe @djundjila@sub.wetshaving.social has combined Tabac aftershave/EdT with non-Tabac soap scents successfully, but I would expect Tabac to overwhelm all scents that aren't Tabac :)

If you ask me, @PorkButtsNTaters666@sub.wetshaving.social overlooked the obvious: Tabac Man Gravity, Tabac's 🌹

[–] gcgallant@sub.wetshaving.social 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I only know of this because I’ve seen you use it.

[–] djundjila@sub.wetshaving.social 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Eh, you didn't miss out on much. None of the Tabac Man scents can keep up with the Original's glory if you ask me.

Good to know. Thanks for doing triage for us :)

  • Brush: AP Shave Co. Blue & Clear - Gelousy (A3) 28mm Badger
  • Razor: Gillette Rocket HD
  • Blade: Personna Lab Blue (5)
  • Lather: Barrister and Mann - Ubrique - Soap
  • Post Shave: Barrister and Mann - Ubrique - Aftershave
  • Post Shave: Oleo & Co. - Facial Toner - Toner
  • Fragrance: Barrister and Mann - Ubrique - EdP

I had planned to use Tabac this morning, but my wife put out Ubrique so I had to pivot. No complaints here.

Super close and comfortable shave, no irritation.

November 18th, 2025: honed

  • Brush: Wolf Whiskers - "Gianmaria" w/Maggard 26mm Synthetic
  • Razor: Koraat 15/16 Full Hollow - Sub Exclusive 'Moarteen' (1)
  • Lather: Stirling Soap Co. - Friends to the End - Soap
  • Post Shave: Murer & Wirtz - Tabac - Aftershave
  • Post Shave: Nivea - Sensitive - Balm

Much better after a touch up. This razor previously had 17 shaves and was lacking in sharpness.

I'll send this razor off to @gcgallant@wetshav.ing to get a new edge. He told me he'd take pictures of my 10k synthetic edge so I can see what that looks like. With one shave on it I assume it'll be pretty close to how it looked when fresh after stropping.

Tabac aftershave is much more floral than the soap. I get more jasmine from it, maybe? I like jasmine despite the poopyness.

Yes, definitely. I don't do it anymore, but I used to do a microscope inspection of each razor after I did a test shave. I've seen enough of how edges change from one test shave to have confidence that the edge is almost unaffected.

18. November 2025

  • Brush: Omega Roma Colosseo 31 mm
  • Razor: RazoRock Cyber Medium w/ 316L Bamboo handle
  • Blade: BIC Chrome Platinum
  • Lather: Ariana & Evans - Ouddiction (K2e)
  • Post Shave: HAGS - Barberwood (Toner)

Only a single WTG pass head shave after it was finally possible to shave my head again. The cut on the back of my neck has almost healed up and thankfully the Cyber is rather mild to my scalp.

The Ouddiction + Barberwood combo was a really great match, both have rather sweet but masculine cologne scents. Also, whatever is in K2e base makes my skin feel really good. Unusual for an A&E soap, this is almost ZM or WK Levels of comfort!

Small WSDB nitpick: it automatically capitalizes every word I want to enter, even the mm for the brush knot diameter. But still: it's a very useful tool and definitely beats always copying my template from my notes app! Speaking of brushes, only today did I realise that I misspelled the brush name in my previous posts. It's Colosseo, not Colossea... Well, aside from medical terms, my latin sucks.

November 18th, 2025: SLS

  • Brush: Rad Dinosaur Creations "Stardust" - TurnNShave 26mm Shoat
  • Razor: RazoRock Game Changer .68-P
  • Blade: Personna Lab Blue (6)
  • Lather: Southern Witchcrafts - Gravefruit II - Soap
  • Post Shave: Southern Witchcrafts - Gravefruit II - Aftershave
  • Post Shave: Oleo & Co. - Facial Toner - Toner

I've been considering selling this .68-P base plate, but tonight's shave may have changed my mind. Super comfortable and easy two pass shave with excellent results. I'll have to give this more thought.
