The recent D&D movie they made was good stuff. It was dumb in all the right ways and a ton of fun to watch.

I also like the idea of a totally new cast and crew. Getting kind of tired of "Kirk and Spock." It's the only reason I haven't started Strange New Worlds, though I want to and I will watch it eventually.

Discovery and Prodigy were cool because they took existing ideas and built out new stories. They weren't always great, but they were always fun, and we got to know some awesome new characters.

I want to see Zachary Quinto come back, but I wonder if they will recast him as someone else after he was Spock in three movies. He is my favourite of the new Trek actors (post TNG/VOY), though I first saw him as Sylar on Heroes.

I don't love how they take 1960s Trek and make it look modern. I loved the practical effects of the original Trek, and I think if they want to make modern starships, they should set them further in the future. The 2009 Trek film and its sequel were cool, especially being "Kirk and Spock in an alternate universe, with calls back to Nimoy's Spock," but old ships looking newer than newer ships doesn't sit right with me. I also think they could respect the old ships in a more modern setting. DS9 did this with "Trials and Tribble-ations" (the TOS crossover episode, I think I got the name right) and Picard did it in the third season with (spoilers, but you can guess, even if you haven't seen it).

"a completely new take on the Star Trek universe and not connected to any previous or current television series, movie or prior movie development projects."

Because the established fan base of long running series are always looking for a new take that ignores the previous things they loved? (Sarcasm mixed with cautious optimism, since it sounds like a good creative team.)

Could still be fun, but there's so many veteran actors willing to reprise Trek roles, right now. I wish they would give us a Captain Worf and/or Quark Heist movie or something.

I don't. It will be the death of Star Trek. This obsession with nostalgia means that Star Trek will never evolve, will never change, will never move past the point that it's already at. It will just stagnate and be perpetually stuck in the era of the 90s because people are too afraid of something new. Meanwhile, Star Trek's whole thing is about exploring the new.

I don't want veteran actors. We got that with Picard. We need something new to bring in new people. to spark new stories. To learn new lessons.

You are completely and objectively correct. My mind sees and accepts the wisdom you have shared.

Yet, heart wants what the heart wants. And my heart says "Captain Worf Mini Series".

No worries. You didn't come off as harsh. I just took it as the usual community passion for one of our favorite shows. I generally expect empassioned thoughtful discussion here. It's what many of us were raised on, after all.

That's fair <3 I just should have thrown something in saying in my opinion or whatever. I didn't wanna come off as one of those guys saying there's only one way or anything.
