Explanation: During WW2, there was a particularly active partisan unit (associated with the French Communists) in Southern France resisting the Nazi occupation, the Montaigne Brigade.

... it was composed of a bunch of Germans, some Austrians, and a Spaniard.

An an amateur German Language enthusiast myself, my only quarrel with your translation is that it should be "we'll put the fascists back in Berlin"
