Where exactly does that money come from? We end up paying more for it in the end due to inflation and it all trickles up as we spend it.
We need to raise taxes on the ruling class. There is no other way.

i believe it when i see it. he's announced the same thing back in may and nothing happened.
He's just doing what Republican administrations have had to do over the past 20 years and bribing people with cash payments right near the end of their term after wrecking the economy.
I'll add that to my $5,000 DOGE dividend. Why do news outlets report what he says when he's obviously lying?

This guy 100% wants to send out “Trump” checks again.
The same thing George W Bush did at the end of his term too.

Because in theory that's just what news outlets should be doing. He says something and they should bring that to the people. Whether or not it is a lie or the public considers it a lie is not news YET. We're better of receiving this information even if we know it to be a lie because we should be up to date of whatever the turd is saying.

$2000 a person won't even offset the additional cost from the ACA subsidy reduction. So, a one-time check that would only cover several months of the recurring cost that he's given us.
When you’re that rich, $2000 and $0 are basically the same. It’s a pittance for what they see as an underclass of poors.
I think a lot of people don't get this.
Imagine there's something that you want--maybe a lot, maybe only a little. What that something is doesn't matter.
What amount of money would you consider to be a negligible amount for you to spend to get that thing you want? Maybe it's a few dollars or maybe it's as little as 10 cents. For me, now that I am reasonably comfortable, anything that only costs about a dollar, I consider to basically be free.
This is how the wealthy view anything that is "only" in the thousands of dollars.
It also won't make up for the small businesses that went under because their margins disappeared.

Just ballparking that there are 250 million non-high-earners, at $2k a pop that's $500 billion. Two thousand dollars won't change anyone's life, but $500bn is a big chunk of the federal budget.
2k would save me rn.
Sorry, I didn't mean to trivialize that amount of money.
$2k is a whole lot of money, especially if you consider that most people will immediately spend it, so other people will earn it. a dollar goes much further than only one dollar if it moves through many hands.

Lol, bet he's only saying this so when the Supreme Court comes down on his illegal tariffs he can say he was going to give us that money.
remember his 1500% reduction in medications, we never heard of it again after he mentioned it.
Technically, If the Supreme Court rules that his tariffs were illegal to begin with, he will be expected to reimburse everyone affected. That may be all this is. He's just trying to spin it as spontaneous generosity, rather than a court ordered obligation.
He won't remember any of this by tomorrow, much less when or if SCrOTUS does anything.

He has concepts of a dividend.
The ultra wealthy already got their 'tariff dividend', in the form of not tax breaks and a discrete heads-up of when to play the market to real maybe amounts of extra wealth.
As for the rest, this offer is just more bullshit. If it does surface (which is very unlikely) there will be some strings attached. And it will in no way fully compensate most people for the turmoil caused by these tariffs.

I’ll take it the way I took his stupid ass signed pandemic check. It’s not gonna make me hate the fucker any less, and I’m not stupid enough to think the amount of money the average person has lost on these fucking tariffs is less than $2000.
