I dropped Rings of Power immediately after watching the first episode.
It had that "Hollywood exec writes a Tolkien fanfic" vibe.

Not sure why they are bothering after churning out two awful seasons so far.
I disagree about awful. They've delivered two mediocre seasons so far. Which is to say some storylines have been awful, but some storylines have been great.
I really enjoyed the Celebrimbor storyline last season for example.
It's probably being funded by all the tech bro Tolkien "fans" in Silicon Valley.
Nah, It's really not nearly as bad as some of the true believers want it to be.
Because they know that die-hard middle-earth fans want something to watch that's middle-earth related since the LOTR movies and Hobbit movies have long been done. Least until they decide to reboot both of them like 20 or more years down the line.
Fellowship of the Ring (the movie) turns 25 next year. I'm shocked that there isn't a reboot in the works already.
Maybe there will be a TV series adaptation if the Harry Potter show performs well.
Something something sunk cost fallacy.
I distinctly remember this being cancelled...
Maybe you're thinking of The Wheel of Time?
And nothing of value was lost. As someone who has read that series front to back 4 times, I hated how that show tried to make WoT into fucking grimdark.
I have also read the series several times and was enjoying the adaptation. I am quite annoyed that it was killed by neckbeardery.
I'm sorry for you. But I have to say I enjoyed S1 as a non-reader. Didn't bother with S2 as it was cancelled before getting to it.
Fair enough. If you haven't read the books then I've heard it's a fine enough show. I should have written "nothing of value to me was lost."
As a fan of Witcher and Lord of the Rings - I understood completely where you were coming from, so no worries.
The slop must continue until profits improve
Pretty much the motto of most streaming channels these days.
Gave up a few episodes into season 2
