I used to work, for a short time, knocking on people's doors and soliciting donations for worthy causes.
The people in poor neighborhoods would almost always give a little bit. When you've been through it, it makes sense to you. It's not imaginary.

And it's not in GDP only. I was visiting Tallinn like a year ago, Ukrainian flags were everywhere, while in most western Europe that was like 2022 thing.
