The wings still have 9m in cap space, so it could happen. It would be the first sign this off-season that they are actually trying to get better.

This is true, but we have to remember the Seider and Raymond extensions will be coming soon. That being said, I still think we should go for it, Steve will get a number that works for Cat and us.

I'd love to see Yzerman get it done, but in a way that makes sense. DeBrincat wants a long term -- we can't handcuff ourselves for 7 or 8 years with a contract that doesn't make sense.

They just signed a 28 year old mediocre center/forward for 5 years. An 8 year contract for Debrincat would end at the same age, and it would be for a player that's going to score 30+ goals most of those seasons.
