Mamdani has a pretty easy job in that these people have painted him to be the personification of Satan. He doesn’t need to do much to prove them wrong. If he keeps the city running and it doesn’t fall into the ocean, he’s already a roaring success by Republican standards.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago (1 children)

He doesn’t need to do much to prove them wrong.

Nothing he can do will prove anything. Big Tech and Finance owned media will just lie over and over again. They'll never stop. New York's actual socio-economic condition won't be reported on, except in the most polarized "everything is horrible, please liberate our people from the tyrannical Mamdani regime" light.

You will be mentally tortured for watching TV or using the Internet until he is removed from office.

[–] Dragonstaff@leminal.space 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Sensible people don't watch corporate media. We know what they'll say about Mamdani because they've been useless for at least a decade and already slander NYC as much as they can.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 1 points 9 hours ago

It's not a matter of sensibility, but availability.

This guy's Wikipedia page shows that in his entire life, his greatest achievement is beating up 3 people.

His entire political career can be summed up as Jafar from Aladdin; he has a fetish for hurting people, but has evidently never done anything ever to actually 'help' anyone in his electorate.

If I ever became noteworthy enough to have a Wikipedia page, I would be downright ashamed to have his. How the fuck is this person an elected representative?

[–] Horsey@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

Oklahoma is as red as Massachusetts is blue. It’s just that kind of state.

Markwayne was named after his two paternal uncles. My guess is his mom didn't know which one was the actual father.

[–] aeternum@lemmy.blahaj.zone 28 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Jfc. Anything or anyone they don’t like is communism. Imagine if they saw ACTUAL communism. Their tiny minds would implode

[–] tvbusy@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 1 day ago (2 children)

You'll be surprised. My observation as someone grew up in a communist country is that Americans who use "communism" as a threat to the world actually really love the PRC and will go out of their way praising the PRC.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Americans who use “communism” as a threat to the world actually really love the PRC

A large wealthy heavily urbanized and industrial country with high quality of life, a highly educated population, low instances of poverty and crime, and virtually no homelessness as a direct consequence of government policy.

It's everything Americans say they want when they talk about the American Dream.

What Americans couldn't handle was seeing all the non-white people in positions of wealth and power.

Native peoples setting domestic policy in a rich and powerful nation? An absolute nightmare for the American elite class.

[–] Alcoholicorn@mander.xyz 7 points 1 day ago

Currently in the PRC, they would probably hate the idea that people they think are below them can live in an apartment for like 300 USD, eat out every day, and be seen enjoying themselves and dancing/gambling in the evenings.

[–] vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The Incan empire would blow their minds. Note their economic systems were extremely egalitarian.

[–] cmbabul@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

There’s a very factual reason for why people would “go native” and never want to come back, many but not all Native American tribes and societies were very egalitarian

[–] MehBlah@lemmy.world 79 points 2 days ago (4 children)

What they are worried about is that it works in new York. If it works there then they are gonna have to come up with a whole lot of new lies to convince their victims/constituents that it can't work in their home state.

[–] NotMyOldRedditName@lemmy.world 36 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (3 children)

They'll just lie about it working in NY and say it's not.

Say it's not, even in the face of irrefutable proof, and their brain dead supporters will eat it up and parrot it.

I don't see why that would matter, 'Everyone else does it but we could never do it here' has been americas whole thing as far as social justice goes for as long as I've been alive.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

they have since resorted to thier lazy basic racism wedge.

[–] MehBlah@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

That is always the case.

Oklahoma here. The last bright spot we had was late 2000s with Brad Henry. A Democrat mind you. After Brad? Republican majority rule for years and years. What happened to the state? Oklahoma is a perfect example of Republican leadership and we are seeing it on the national stage now. Sad.

[–] dumbluck@midwest.social 68 points 2 days ago (3 children)

We are 50th in education, not 48th. Can't even beat out Mississippi...

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 32 points 2 days ago

Thank God for Oklahoma!

They don't even know WHAT communism actually is

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

Communism is when my guy doesn't get to run things. And the less control I have, the more Communist everything is.

Give them the same agreements people made about Trump in 2016. He's an outsider. He'll run it like a business. Give him a chance.

[–] ordnance_qf_17_pounder@reddthat.com 118 points 2 days ago (5 children)

The "he's a Communist!" shit isn't fooling New Yorkers anymore.

[–] BrokenGlepnir@lemmy.world 94 points 2 days ago (1 children)

"Communist", "woke", "liberal" just words that mean "thing I don't like" to them

[–] nonfuinoncuro@lemmy.zip 36 points 2 days ago (2 children)

insert picture of car repair book cover "this engine is woke"

Younger generations don't have the same Pavlovian response to words like communism and socialism, so I think these boomer-ass losers are in for a rude awakening if they think they can continue to lean on that tactic.

[–] zalgotext@sh.itjust.works 27 points 2 days ago

Republicans: "He's a communist!"

Dirty liberal/leftist/progressive New Yorkers: "Good"

[–] Macchi_the_Slime@piefed.blahaj.zone 42 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Doesn't help that they've been calling literally anyone with a D next to their name a communist or a socialist for decades now.

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 33 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I can remember when I was a kid, "socialism" was something bad the way it was talked about, but I had no idea why. As soon as I was old enough to understand what it actually meant I knew that was bullshit.

Being normal and having human empathy and compassion is the opposite of being a Republican. Who knew?

Also, Democrats suck as well. They're beholden to the billionaire class, but don't seem to actively want to cause harm to the rest of us.

[–] danc4498@lemmy.world 82 points 2 days ago (3 children)

A senator that doesn’t know the difference between a communist and a democratic socialist clearly has no place in our government.

[–] P1k1e@lemmy.world 57 points 2 days ago (2 children)

A solid portion of Americans cannot tell he difference

[–] thermal_shock@lemmy.world 29 points 2 days ago (2 children)

The fact that NYC has over twice the population of his entire state is kinda funny.

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago

Too bad BLM already burned New York to the ground amiriiight!?

[–] chunes@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago (3 children)

What does he mean by liberal states going blue? Aren't they already blue by definition?

[–] pyre@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

i think he means "I'm not gonna panic just because nyc voted the democrat in", even as he's literally panicking about that very thing.

[–] Lemminary@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Well, you have sky blue, dark blue and navy blue, and then you have scary liberal communist blue. They're not the same.

[–] Gammelfisch@lemmy.world 12 points 2 days ago

Good response from "thejeffmann." As long as the Oklahoma Oblast is red run, it will continue to fail. The dumbfuck Mullin never met a true communist.

[–] owenfromcanada@lemmy.ca 30 points 2 days ago

"This is gonna be really bad for you" says the senator in a heaping pile of his own shit.
