He's what the world needs more of, a person who's not a racist, fascist loving piece of shit like most politicians are... like the UK currently has too much of, we need more left leaning people in power instead of the wankers we have who are in the pockets of corporations and serve their interests. We needs les of the bigoted pieces of shit grifters like reform, tory and labour and their flag shagging racist supporters.

Too many people just don't give a fuck about who they elect and follow along like good little sheep to whoever makes the most noise about the current divisive trend (trans and immigrants at the moment).

Seems like a decent guy with his head in the right place.

Rejection of fascism and racism is good not just for New Yorkers, but more widely Americans. The optimist in me also likes to think that this is a signal to politicians and political parties everywhere that you can challenge far right populism and win, rather than absorbing elements of it to attract voters. (Labour continue to disappoint me in this respect)

I think the challenge for Mamdani now (as I suppose it is for any progressive who gets voted in) is actually making positive change happen at the rate that people want and need it. There will be a lot of people waiting to leap on failure, including some Democrats.

Exactly, it's proof that progressive votes matter and so that the powers that be should take that into account next time they release a chud candidate to compete.

Also, hopefully it's a new paradigm that even if the rest of the country is a right-wing fascist hellhole, the cities can still abide on their own terms
