A place to meme about the glorious ROMAN EMPIRE (and Roman Republic, and Roman Kingdom)! Byzantines tolerated! The HRE is not.

Also Vietnam. And probably other things further in between (was there something with Bull Run during the US Civil War?). A forest is historically a good place to get wrecked, as the superior force.

WWI too, they used to make hollow armored duplicates of trees on the battlefield for artillery observers and snipers to lurk in which would be swapped out for the real trees in the dead of night.
